A star-spangled Long Island diner owner surprised eaters who woke up before 4 a.m. to be part of a special Fourth of July Fox & Friends live shoot on site by paying for every single one of their meals out of an unrivaled love of the USA.
“Our kitchen went through seven cases of eggs – there’s 30 dozen in each case. We fed a few thousand,” Embassy Diner owner Gus Tsiorvas told The Post.
“It’s the most beautiful thing in the world to see so many people gather around for the birth of our country. That’s why we’re the greatest in the world.”
The popular Tsiorvas – he has even addressed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on small-business issues – had the phrase “America’s Most Patriotic Diner” trademarked and printed T-shirts that he often hands out to guests.
“I was always instilled as a little kid – patriotism, patriotism, patriotism,” he said.
“I love this country.”
Tsiorvas has been a firm believer in the American dream ever since his father, Peter, emigrated “from the middle of Greece with absolutely nothing” decades ago.
“If it weren’t for this country, he wouldn’t be where he is,” Tsiorvas said of his dad, who still helps out with the Bethpage diner.
Tsiorvas also runs the restaurant with more of his family, who also work as first responders, and has dedicated the diner as “a safe haven” for police, fire, EMS, and hospital workers.
Former Nassau police officer Craig Kasin said there was no better place to celebrate the holiday as a longtime member of law enforcement.
“If everything was like this, I think the country would be okay,” he said.

Because no one needs free food more than folks headed to the Hamptons.
I grew up in the neighborhood right behind The Embassy. My daughter was born in the hospital right across the street over fifty years ago. My friends and I spent untold hours there. When my dad would travel my Mom and I walk there for dinner every week. I’m so glad to see that it’s still thriving.
Mamdani is not going to like this.

If this diner is located in Nassau County it’s not even in NYC proper so not in the mayors jurisdiction. Adjacent but beyond his control somewhat.

What kind of meat is used for souvlaki?
In Greece, the most common meat for souvlaki is pork, although chicken, beef, and lamb are also popular. For gyros, pork shoulder is often used because its marbling makes the meat juicier. For skewers, pork loin is traditional — a leaner cut that benefits from a long marinade. Ideally, marinate the meat for at least 12 hours so the flavors can fully develop.
Every souvlaki chef takes pride in making his own marinades, fresh tzatziki, and picking juicy tomatoes; nothing is pre-packaged. The cooking oil is always olive oil, and the fries are always hand-cut from real potatoes. That’s the essence of authentic Greek street food.
Berkeley in the early 70’s had some souvlaki spots. One was next to Tower Records.
The guys who ran it had beards, about a foot long, they blasted some sort of ethnic music over boom boxes and they had what I called “moose and squirrel “ accents.
Excellent food, they’d always give a sample away . Not sure it was pork , thought it was beef, anyways, it was fast hot cheap and delicious and messy.
Bethpage is in Nassau County which is run by Bruce Blake who’s running against the horrible Kathy Hochul.
