The transcript from the video would be too long to post here, but the gist of the video is about how Microsoft is extending the ESU program until Oct 2027, and maybe even into 2028.
I thought maybe folks here would want to know because it makes getting new hardware to support Windows 11 unnecessary as long your IT device still runs good and has Windows 10, like mine. I was going to put together a system to dual boot W11 and Linux but I'm putting that off for now.

I still have a win 7 pro running right next to my Mac Studio. I just use it for photo storage.
I have been running Window 11 on an unsupported Dell computer for more than a year. No problems. Updates just fine.
Download the Windows 11 ISO and burn it with Rufus to a USB flash drive to bypass Windows 11 hardware requirements.

Very interesting. Thanks.
They have instructions for installing it. Just create the USB with Rufus.

Kewl!
>> What I did was to yes, get an account, but I didn’t sign onto W10 with it. I still used my local account.
Ditto. “It just worked.”
On the other hand, I don’t get very many of those vaunted “security updates”. Do you?
thanks for the info, because my kids (not me) are still on windows 10, mainly for gaming. i keep their computers running by repairing/upgrading them every few years. but, windows 10 is the end of windows for me. i won’t go past that, even for my kids.
>> prices of CPUs, GPUs, RAM and SSDs have gone through the roof.
Yeah, they definitely forgot to factor that in. And they knew... (cough cough copilot)
I’m 82 and stuck in my ways. I have Windows 10. Do I have to change at some point. I need advice.
2032, actually. You have to use IoT, which is de-crapified Enterprise.
“I’m still going to look for a new laptop in the meantime.”
Most at Amazon have only 8gb RAM. Do not cave. 16gb is minimum for Windows 11.
News you can use! I copied your LTSC info to where I can refer to as needed. I have a few laptops bought used at ebay. Minimum intel 8th gen so load Windows 11 no problems. On all I have the Rufus version of Win 11 so .....local account only.
The Google - Chrome - Youtube - other goog apps gets 10x more your data/telemetry than MS does when you sign into Win 11 (not compulsory with LTSC etc)
Linux Mint on a few also. Linux Mint Cinnamon is just as good as Windows 10-11 for surfing internet.
It is summer, so bulletproof Latitudes FHD 15.6” are being given away at eBay. Connect an external monitor for a grade A desktop. >>

I can’t upgrade because my SSD doesn’t have enough room.
Linux is too cool for school. I use Mint and Windoze 11. For slackers, Linux is not lacking.
I have only one machine in the home using Windoze. All the rest have been converted to either Linux Mint or Ubuntu. There is almost nothing found on Windoze that is not duplicated for linux. The few like Adobe who refuse you when you request a linux version can be ignored. There are dozens of linux utilities that emulate Acrobat, etc. Adobe etc will soon come around as their market share dwindles.
So forget M$ and their spyware-based operating systems.
“I have Windows 10. Do I have to change at some point.”
So many here are experts; I am not at all. BUT I don’t think you have to but it depends on how you use it. My two cents:
I have a Win 7 laptop and a Win 7 desktop with MS Office 2003.
I have a Win 10 laptop and a Win 10 desktop with MS Office 2003. Got them refurbished and cheap just to test 10 because it seemed that there was a big jump between 7 and 10. I do not like it. The Edge thing is like a demon possessing it. Have done many things suggested online to prevent it from having links open in Edge. (Changing my default browser to something else doesn’t work.)
Explorer file manager is “too much”; much more user friendly in 7.
Hubby has two Win 11 laptops with MS Office 365. One is for day-to-day use and other is dedicated to astronomy and connects to his behemoth telescope, and cameras. I have tried to be comfortable with 11, but hate it.
For my day-to-day stuff, I prefer Win 7.
Basically, everything I do, or he does, can be done in 7 or 10. I never would move up to 11 because it’s actually moving down when it comes to productivity and speed.
” if they’d sell me XP, I’d be happy to downgrade a couple of the machines.”
Here’s one from Amazon. My most stable systems have been refurbished from Amazon.
Optiplex GX780 Small Form Factor - 400GB HDD, 4GB Ram, DVD-Rom, 17in LCD Monitor, Windows XP Professional (Renewed)
There’s company in CA that sells — or used to sell — strictly “legacy” computers. If I can find the info again I’ll post it.
Linux....
