Democrat Senator Chris Coons was hospitalized after a car accident in Sussex County, Delaware, on Sunday.
The Delaware Senator was a passenger in a car that was involved in a multi-car collision.
The nature of his injuries is not clear.
Coons is now home and recovering from his injuries, his office said.
“Earlier today, a Delaware driver experienced a medical incident and collided with several cars, including one in which Senator Coons was a passenger," a statement from Coons' office said.
"Senator Coons was transported to Beebe Hospital and treated for minor injuries," Coons' office said.
"He is now home and expected to make a full and swift recovery," Coons' office said in a statement.
“Senator Coons is deeply grateful to the first responders for their prompt and professional response, including the Lewes Police Department, Lewes and Rehoboth Fire Departments, and Sussex County Emergency Medical Services, as well as the capable doctors and nurses at Beebe Hospital, where he received excellent care," they said.
He feels relieved and blessed that by all accounts no one was seriously injured during the crash,” his office said.

Went to school with a family and teacher and coach named ‘Coons’. Whole family got arrested in Memphis for shoplifting. Never saw them again.......
I wonder what Coons’ stance is on self-driving cars? After all, if that driver was in a Tesla with FSD and had his incident, no accident would have occurred (and the car could even have driven the guy directly to the hospital). It’d be nice if someone spoke to him about this - because Dems are very likely to oppose this simply because a Musk company will make money from it.
His replacement will be 1 million times worse. Although he is not terrific, I can count 10 senators worse than him at least.
