The truck will offer 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8s and is expected to go on sale at the end of the year
Chevrolet is giving its Silverado pickup a major update with new V8 engines, a redesigned exterior and more technology inside the cabin.
The automaker on Tuesday introduced the next-generation 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, calling it the "most powerful Silverado ever" and marking one of the pickup’s biggest updates in years.
The truck is expected to go on sale at the end of the year, with pricing to be announced later, according to the company.
"Silverado has earned truck customers’ trust over decades of hard work in the real world," Scott Bell, vice president of Global Chevrolet, said in a statement. "With the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500, we’re taking that legacy forward by building the most capable, refined and advanced Silverado lineup we’ve ever offered."

The '90's and oughts were peak car, in my opinion. When OBD II came out, with a computer controlling the engine, and fuel injection, I thought cars would be too complicated to work on. Turns out, it simplified maintenance over the spaghetti monster, carburetor engines had become. The car actually told you what was wrong with it!
Fast forward, and of course car makers went too far. I have a 2010 BMW that started showing signs of brain damage. The little drop the windows make when you close the door started cycling over and over. The lights would randomly flash high beams, whatever setting the switch was on.
Cost $1700 at the dealer to replace a secondary computer. They had a hell of a time linking it to the car, because it was 15 years old at the time, and the software was out of date.
Oh, also you have to go to the dealer to replace the battery, because it also has to be linked to the car, unless you train yourself and buy some expensive equipment. No thanks!
I hope you misinterpreted ‘... pass’. I meant that to mean that these are reasons that will cause me to *NOT* buy a newer vehicle.
Add ‘spyware’ to the list ... I’ll pass

If GM wants to sell a lot Silverado’s then all they have do is pull out the blue prints from 15 years ago or older and start building them like that again. Same engines and transmission as back then. The demand would be huge.
GM’s reputation has been trashed by Engine and Transmission failures. Along with some other manufactures. And the word is out everywhere. Trump just gave them the chance to roll back most of the silly nonsense. They should take that gift.

As long as these 5.7 V8 engines are the same one they built back in the 70’s and 80’s... I’m good with that.
Anything else is a hard pass until 2-3 years go by and we see if the new engines are crap like what GM has been using for the last 15 years.
“I hope you misinterpreted ‘... pass’. I meant that to mean that these are reasons that will cause me to *NOT* buy a newer vehicle.”

Sure don’t want one that watches what I do either.
We had a ‘76 Caprice wagon with a 400 big block. In spite of it being choked back with so much smog junk it could still get up and go. That thing had huge tires! LIke truck tires.
