An Effingham tornado damaged or destroyed about 60 properties, including a museum housing historic Corvettes. No deaths were reported as the recovery begins.

This is why people love the west coast.
” if that’s the same place that got zapped by a sinkhole a few years ago they should have a priest come out to exorcise it”
I have been to that museum, it’s in Bowling Green Kentucky, the official Corvette museum. This place that was hit by the tornado is in Illinois.
At least it wasn’t the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY - I pass it when traveling to see relatives in Ohio...never have stopped in tough - my memories of the Vettes on the streets in the 60s and 70s are enough.
My favorite was the ‘66 coupe with the 427 CI/425 HP mill....The maroon color, with the removable hardtop panels was my favorite
That’s a good point. Liability and medical is really costly in car insurance. I was thinking the cars’ value might be quite high, though: I wonder how many they had?
BTW, here’s a good vid of the tornado itself:

I’ve driven by that spot on I-57 many times over the years, esp. when I was younger and making lots of trips to the Chicago area (for business, the old Consumer Electronics Show, see friends, be sure to stop by Rolling Stone Records, etc.)
Did The Effingham Cross survive?! 😮
we went to the Corvette museum that the sink hole gobbled up,
Yes I did, thanks.
Very nice!
Coincidentally, I saw a black 2026 Corvette ZR1 in town, yesterday. Wow.
I have no idea who around here might own one. The car looks like something one could go Shadow hunting in. (Babylon 5 reference.)
I should sadly add that the tornado NE of Mt. Vernon, IL was worse: It was an EF-3 that killed two elderly gals in separate locations, and injured 5 more people. :-(

Yes. The tornado passed a few mile to the north of The Effingham Cross.

I have to admit the new Vettes look potent and like thoroughbred racers...but, being a Boomer, I get nostalgic over some of the classics - even though I enjoy the modern accessories in my old age.
I can appreciate that! :-)
