Have you guys heard of the Slate truck? It was announced some time ago and to me seems intriguing. They trying to make an affordable bare bones (it has hand crank roll up windows) truck that you can can customize. It can be a pickup or an SUV.

First of all, it’s not going to start at $24,950.
The trouble with Slate is that price was the goal back when it was first developed. Back when there was a $7500 EV credit.
That’s all gone now. Gone, gone, gone.
But I’m still interested. Very. If it can successfully come to market at or around $30K, it should do well.
I hope so.

I remember 55 years ago you could buy a good new PU trick for $2000. But then, I was only making $1 and hour at that time.

Honda just posted its first loss in its history and they said they’re going to fix it by eliminating production of all EV vehicles.

The main reason vehicles are becoming less and less affordable is all the mandated equipment the government is forcing automakers to install.
It started with ABS and TPMS, but now monitoring and spyware is minding your every move. New vehicles as of next year will even be checking your mental state and refusing to run if you don’t meet their pre-loaded parameters.

The buzz is it is a simple pickup truck at an affordable price. It doesn’t have bells and whistles, big screens, and four doors. It would be better if it was a 4 cylinder without a turbo.

If they come out with something in that price range I’d buy one just to haul my kayak and bike around in and for trips to the lumber store. Rather than driving my 2500HD.

I was in the Philippines last year and got to see a "Toyota Hilux Champ" in person. (For reference)

It starts at $15k USD. It's a very no-frills truck, but I'd bet it runs forever.
