The remaining three correspondents at “60 Minutes” huddled this week to discuss their futures following the firing of Scott Pelley, according to a report, as former star Steve Kroft warned that the iconic newsmagazine “no longer exists” in the form viewers have known for decades.
Bill Whitaker, Lesley Stahl and Jon Wertheim met on Wednesday for more than an hour amid growing turmoil at CBS News following Pelley’s ouster and the sweeping shakeup orchestrated by CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, the Status newsletter reported on Thursday.
The meeting came just hours after The Post reported that CBS insiders believed Whitaker and Stahl could be the next high-profile departures from the program.
“I think Bill is next,” one source close to the network told The Post.
“Lesley is keeping quiet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she left,” the source added.
Another insider told The Post: “Lesley and Bill will be behind him,” referring to Pelley.
Kroft, who recently told podcaster Bill O’Reilly that he “hated” working at “60 Minutes” due to its lack of “civility” and it being a “snake pit,” also questioned whether the program would be able to maintain its identity when it returns in the fall.

When you’ve been shoveling liberal propaganda down people’s throats for decades leaving isn’t even a consideration.
They believe they are shaping America by convincing people their liberal views are righteous.
And sadly to a certain extent they have been successful.

OH, you mean the like in the form of the bogus Audi 5000 “unintended acceleration” accusations of the 80’s, or the GM full-sized pickups catching fire when impacted story of the 90’s?
Both accusations were “substantiated” by off-screen and unrevealed assists - high pressure air to the transmission of the Audis, and fire ignition devices in the case of the pickup trucks.
YES, “60 Minutes” has been totally reliable for ‘decades’. /s
Which is why Nick Shirley has taken over for investigative reporting.
These people really believe that show is somehow consequential.
If it went away immediately the only people’s live that would be negatively impacted would be them.
The handwriting! The angst! If you want to leave, leave, My Gawd their self-importance is just stunning.
And no one cares!
Kroft says that like it's a bad thing.
Well, I care to the extent that if it happens I’m gonna laugh my ass off.
Reliably dishonest.
Reliably communist.
Reliably anti-American.
The only time I've watched 60 minutes during the last 40 years is I if fell asleep watching the NFL and had to change the channel when I woke up...
Man, the good news just keeps coming on the POS show.

My take on the mainstream media over many decades has been one of the original”stars”(Cronkite, et al) taking upon themselves to “guide” the news and narrative in a direction they thought was “helpful”. As the years have gone by, the new “stars” took the stage and the guidance became more and more overt until we have gotten to the point today where it’s more about obscuring truth and facts, slanting reporting towards a common leftist narrative, and outright fabrication and lying. I’m sure the current crop of “stars” still see their efforts as just gently guiding the direction they prefer. That being said, it’s important to remember these people live in an insular world where they associate primarily with people who think and believe primarily what they do.
Wallace was terrible, but Pelley was insufferable. I have not watched the show in years. Largely because when I would occasionally turn it on, there was that smug SOB. Couldn’t stand him.
I haven't watched the show in decades because of this bias. My guess for the real reason for Pelley's firing is that the new people want the show to be more fair and balanced but Pelley would have nothing to do with it.
You, you, you are just a hater! You hate Black people and LGBTQs, don't you? (/liberal)
Great post. You nailed it. 👍
At dinner, he spoke and reminded us that there were ten resumes on his desk for every one of our positions. He suggested he could fire us on a Friday and meet our customers needs by Monday. He then handed out awards to the $hit stirrers, including plane tickets to attend strategy meetings at the main office headquarters. By Monday morning those guys were all fired and replacements hit the ground running. It was a cruel joke played on them.
James O’Keefe is doing what 60 Minutes once did.
60 Minutes is passé.
