NEW YORK -- Ten-time Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson confirmed Wednesday in a video posted to social media that he's retiring from the NFL to take a job with CBS Sports.
Wilson's announcement came two days after news broke that he was finalizing a deal to become an analyst on CBS' Sunday NFL pregame show.
"As I enter this next chapter with CBS Sports and 'The NFL Today,' I'm so blessed to continue doing what I love most -- being around the greatest game in the world," he said in the video.
Wilson played 14 seasons after being taken by Seattle in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft out of NC State. He spent his first 10 seasons with the Seahawks, leading them to their first Super Bowl championship in the 2013 season. He was traded to Denver after the 2021 season and spent two rocky years with the Broncos before playing one season in Pittsburgh and another for the New York Giants.
Wilson threw for 46,966 yards, with 353 touchdown passes and 114 interceptions.
He joins Peyton Manning and Dan Marino as the only quarterbacks to throw at least 20 touchdown passes in each of their first three seasons and is one of seven signal-callers to be selected to 10 Pro Bowls.
Wilson is the only player in NFL history with at least 30 touchdown passes and fewer than 15 interceptions in four straight seasons. He also had three seasons with at least 30 TD passes and 500 yards rushing, which is the most in NFL history.

Brady was still a top rated qb for the two years after he was in the Super Biwl with Tampa. He was also well into his 40s. Russell Wilson mught be in a wheelchair when he’s 42.

True, the LOB era was a perfect storm of rookie contract, great defense and offense cast and a monster at RB. Played great ball for a while.

In Seattle, his recievers knew that once RW broke the pocket, which seemed like every play, they knew they had to find a way to get open becuase thats how RW played the game
The Broncos and Steelers receivers just continued their assignd routes. These guys were used to drop back passing.
He still has HoF stats but it was painful to watch him those last few years.
Sorry but your wrong. The other defender , Brandon Browner,had Jermaine Kearse by the shoulder pads with his hand inside Kearse’s jersey like a horse collar,to keep him from “picking” Butler, which would have opened up the slot for Lockette.
This was another example poor officiating.

When it comes to those deriding the unequaled success of the New England Patriots and their 20 year dynastic run, I’ve heard some real whoppers... But I’ve never heard that one before... So I’m thinking it’s a niche market for such nonsense... Like the Seattle area-code... Period!
But you have had two of the greatest QB’s of all time... Russell whatshisname and Sam Darnold and you’ll see them both in the HOF... As long as they can afford a ticket to get in, and you happen to be there visiting while their visiting it too.

I do remember Wilson wanting his own office with the Seahawks. Players had a problem with it like he was management. It just showed he took his job seriously. It’s not Barry Bonds gettin his own easy chair in the locker room. The SF Giants never won anything until after he left.
After Sherman and Lynch left, he was expected to carry the franchise on his back.
