One of the rodeo riders whose horse was stabbed over the weekend in a Las Vegas barn said Tuesday she came “face-to-face” with the teenage suspect charged with attacking her mare and two other horses.
Arielle Phillips told NBC News she was in a stall with her horse, Detail, late Friday night when the 17-year-old “came by twice to try and make conversation by asking me weird questions.”

My aunt is a big time horse person (or nut if you ask others) and pretty sane and grounded person.
If that had been one of her horses, that other person probably wouldn’t be breathing.
Her horses live the equine good life.

I try to avoid barrel racers, but my daughter (who is a reformed barrel racer) said it was someone called “Emily Grace”. We’ll see.
Horse people are not forgiving types. I imagine the horse stabber is going away for many years.

Ladies I know ride the barrel circuit and shooting competitions. They are pretty good at both. A competition shooter can fire a revolver riding faster than most, men including me faster on horse back than me standing on the ground. My wife has a 45 modified for competition. The throat is open on the pistol for black powder scattering rounds. It shoots 45 long Colt just fine. There’s folks that won’t forget this 💩.

I refuse to donate to any organization that shows images of injured animals. Being disgusted doesn’t make me donate. A simple explanation of where they put donated funds to protect animals works just fine.
One of the reasons I adored DeForest Kelley, who played Bones on Star Trek, was that he donated his convention salary to no-kill shelters. He told the most wonderful story of stopping traffic in all directions in NYC to search under cars for a lost bird.
Most people have never had a horse so long they’ve had to decide to put them down. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. They hurt, you hurt. I’m in my70’s I’ve been dealing with horses, dogs, and cats since I can remember. They suffer you suffer. I feel if I eat they eat. It’s the way I was raised. Putting an animal down destroys me for a week or two. A best friend at end of trail. I brought them to that point, passing the responsibility or ignoring the issue don’t get it done. Believing that way makes idiots doing unwanted damage to a friend will get you killed. IMO
WE OWN THEM & TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEM——BUT MOST DO NOT OUTLIVE US. IT IS UNAVOIDABLE.

I didn’t know that about Kelley. Then Bones is a good man. I met Bill Shatner about three years ago and he seemed nice.
SPCA/ASPCA is on my blacklist. Along with all these adverts that show abused animals. They kill everything. Dogs, cats, birds, reptiles. Take money and then kill the animals.
Sorry “slightly insane”??! It’s totally. I hit the back of my first horse when I was 7 or 8. A little grey Shetland Pony, meanest little SOB I’ve ever known. Kids heal fast, couldn’t wait to try it again. It was a friend’s horse. I’ve never owned one of those ponys. I just have history with them. It was onwards and upwards for me after that. Quarters, paints, Arabs, or mules. I love them all. I get to the of trail, I hope God has one for me to ride to stand before the bench. That’s just me.

Ya know, I wouldn’t trade my 70+ years of life’s learning for anything. I’d go back and try to make amends for wrongs I did to others but I wouldn’t give up what I had from my best friends, Animal or people to avoid any of it. God blessed me with great dogs, horses, cats, and people. If I changed anything. I might miss a good memory or two. You just climb on that pony and ride. Tears or laughter, it’s your trail. Someone that hurts your friend deserves no respect or sympathy. I had a couple guys who fought in WWII Tell me “you’ll find sympathy between shit and syphilis in the dictionary “.
