CBS News axed veteran “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley on Tuesday night, a day after after the longtime network star blasted editor-in-chief Bari Weiss and challenged her newly installed leadership team in a heated confrontation that exposed the widening civil war inside the iconic news magazine.
In a letter obtained by The Post, newly appointed “60 Minutes” executive producer Nick Bilton blasted Pelley in informing him he was fired “for cause effective immediately.”
“[Y]ou hijacked my first meeting with staff to disparage me, my qualifications, and my intentions with remarkable incivility and contempt,” Bilton wrote, referring to Monday’s heated face-off between the journo and his boss.
Bilton further accused Pelley of staging a “performative display of hostility” and claimed he had “no interest in contributing to the future success of the show, or approaching my new tenure with a mind open to collaboration and progress.”
“I am here to deliver first-in-class news programming, not to make headlines about newsroom drama,” Bilton wrote.

Pelly was standing up for principle. How dare anyone representing the shareholder owners of the network intrude into their leftist media clubhouse.
If anybody, cnn probably.
Or msnow.
But most likely he’ll be relegated to the black hole of uninteresting pod casts.

The media ALWAYS refers to pornography actors as “porn stars” as well.....I’ve never understood that either.
And if you think about it, both have a lot in common.

Depends how you look at it. He is 68 years old and had been making more than $5 million per year. At that age with a presumably fat bank account, maybe he has enough and perhaps did not feel like getting bossed around by a lesbian.
So they fired a non journalist...60 minutes has been bad for decades.
The thing I remember most about Pelley: when he anchored the CBS evening news, he gave Obama a huge a$$ kiss nearly ever night. Good riddance.
Then why not just quit?
He can join Keith Olberman in the storage room filming TDS rants that no one views.
He wants to be a smug little martyr.

Growing up in the 70s my parents would watch it religiously every Sunday night and as I look back now, they believed it all.
Knowing what I know now, it was and still is propaganda for the left. I guess my parents never realized that back then.
It took them way more than 60 minutes.

Well, he’s got the smug part down pat.
He has another year left on his contract. If he quit, he would forfeit that. If he's fired, he can threaten an argument that it was unjust and perhaps get CBS to fork over what he's to be paid on the balance of the contract. He essentially forced them to fire him.
