JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A mother was arrested for D.U.I. after driving 120 miles per hour on I-10 with her three-year-old in the back seat, says the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).

According to JSO, an officer pulled over the mother after seeing her drive 120 miles per hour on I-10. The officer enlisted the help of D.U.I. Officer Ernesto Valerio after he smelled marijuana in the car.

An investigation determined that the mother was driving under the influence and found a lit marijuana joint and several empty bottles of alcohol after searching the car. Her three-year-old was in the backseat.

In the body cam footage posted on JSO’s social media, Officer Valerio asks the mother, “You think that’s a safe way of driving with him?”

JSO says that the mother was supposedly driving fast so she could get to her 10-year-old son, who was left at home.

The mother was arrested for D.U.I. and violating Florida’s Super Speeder law, which makes it a crime to go more than 100 miles per hour.

which makes it a crime to go more than 100 miles per hour.

I'll have to remember that. That's called driving in the slow lane on I-10 between the border control post east of El Paso and civilization.

Cut the Mom some slack. At least she put the child in the back seat.

That is incredible, our mom’s and grandmother’s cars used to top out at about 120, once you get past 100 you best be on some very open road.

For a lot of car history, including the 60s, guys used to run from the cops and get away from them with speed and maneuver from their hopped up 57 chevys and such, souped up engines, getting the seats upholstered in Mexico, getting fantastic paint jobs.

but where I am that level of speeding allows the vehicle to be taken.

Your post is totally useless. You aren't flying a flag on your home page, and you don't give your state or country in your post.

How am I supposed to know where to keep it under 120 or risk losing my 25 year old beater?

I’ve always thought Florida Man\Florida Woman stories should be announced\accompanied with the 1960s Batman TV show theme.

“Weed is not legal for recreational use in Florida so......”

My understanding is that you can buy it online and have it shipped. Also, there’s something called gas station crack that’s both deadly and over the counter.

Not to worry. I’m over the border in Ontario.

Fastest I’ve ever driven was 115 mph on the autobahn in Germany. My knuckles were white. The best cruising speed in my Volvo 242 GT was 90 mph, I loved that car.

Just to clarify the police can confiscate a vehicle if it exceeds 50 kph above the posted speed limit. That’s about 30 mph. On interstate level highways in Ontario the limit is usually about 60 mph so doing 90 mph is the danger zone. There are some areas where it is around 70 mph so you’re good up to 100 mph but over...bye bye vehicle.

LOL I was pulled over in Van Horn for doing 90. The Trooper was nice, let me off with a warning. Many trips on I-10 to San Antonio.

Anyone who goes 120 is taking a risk, and that’s up to them. Having a three year old in the car? Unacceptable.

” I doubt that many today ever try it, or if their cars will even do it.”

Don’t kid yourself. We’re living in a golden age for HP. Our basic, plan-Jane CX-3 has a top speed of 123mph with a 2.0L4 unturned charged engine. Four dour Dodge Chargers with a 5.7 V8 will easily run 140 mph.

This not the era of 1990s under powered slugs

Yup. Buying it online doesn’t clear the table. Pharmacy card or its illegal. But so many abuse it these days. Can’t drive down the interstate near us without smelling it. 😵
