I worked with a Navy Lieutenant who was a Salvage Diver. He said they would sometimes practice their mixed gas diving around deep oil rigs and meet Grouper that were the size of Volkswagen Beetles. He said they were pretty sure that many of the rig divers that went missing were eaten whole by these Groupers.
