99.99% chance the choice was about the flight schedule not the airline. Good chance if Delta had a flight more conducive to his schedule he might have been on a Delta flight.

Were I a pilot on UAL I would fly on a different airline. As a pilot you don’t have to put up with the so-called service crew and your luggage stands a much better chance of getting to the destination with you on American or Delta or any foreign airline (if you are going overseas)..
