A cargo ship was struck by multiple small craft while sailing near the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, UK military officials said.
The ship, which was not immediately identified, was hit right off the coast of Sirik, Iran, just east of the strait, according to the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre.
All crew members were reported safe, with no group immediately claiming responsibility for the attack.
Iran’s military, however, has repeatedly warned any ship that tries to navigate the strait would be attacked unless they pay a toll and prove they are not affiliated with the US or Israel.
The vessel was heading north into the Persian Gulf — not trying to exit it.
There have been at least two dozen attacks in and around the Strait of Hormuz since the war with Iran began, with Sunday’s strike marking the first since April 22.
Tehran has effectively shut down the key oil chokepoint with repeated attacks and threats on cargo ships and tankers that tried to sail through.
Despite the US and Israel sinking Iran’s navy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps maintains a fleet of small patrol boats along the strait.

About 12% of the population of Iraq lives around Tehran.
if this hadn’t been done and it ongoing they had better start. How this was to be done should have been worked out to the gnat’s eyebrow before any of this was started!
That is a monumental task. Seriously, it isn't as if we can FedEx them.
What does one expect from these mentally deficient half-breeds that dominate the Iranian population. You can’t impregnate your mother-sister-daighter without genetic consequences—even if the Koran’s words can be twisted to approve it.
Islam is history’s Titanic.
You get right on that Sparky.🤣
Little darling we weep for you.
But I can dance a little Jig to lift your spirits.🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻🐿️🕺🏻🕺🏻
I threw squirrel in there because you’re Nuts. 🤣🤣🤣
“We’ve stated that the strait is closed. “
Nope. We are blockading Iranian ports.
how many pegs equals six feet
How come we can’t give those guys the Venezuela drug boat treatment?
knock out the Kharg island oil export port and while at it, sink their pesky little attack canoes
very poor baby if you have to drive a truck or large SUV for work every day. If you don’t think those costs aren’t going to be passed on to consumer you’re nuts. If gas is still this high come July and August, it will be a GOP massacre come November. Most people don’t give a rat’s ass about Iran and the Mullahs, but they do care about their pocketbooks. I must put $50 of gas in my van today and didn’t get 10 gallons. Doesn’t bother me much, but if I was putting a couple of hundred miles a week on my van, I’d be pissed.
Didn’t they tell us they were going to do this?
That ship has sailed. At this point, we're reacting to events.
Somebody on this planet, besides us, should send a swarm of armed coastal patrol speedboats out to smoke those IRGC muppet boats. So many pussies sitting on the sidelines.
It's what put DJT into office.
Let's hope he realizes this before it's too late.
Drilling is one thing.
It should be refine baby refine.
We can drill - that’s great - but we can’t refine enough for our own needs.
Whatever happened with the severe water crisis in Tehran where they were going to run out of water?
I’ll bet you were a whiny little beyotch when you were in uniform, too.

Have to make a few dozen test cases to see how much it is.
Countries from all over the World, almost all of which are not involved in the Middle Eastern dispute going on so visibly, and violently, for all to see, have asked the United States if we could help free up their Ships, which are locked up in the Strait of Hormuz, on something which they have absolutely nothing to do with —
They are merely neutral and innocent bystanders! For the good of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, we have told these Countries that we will guide their Ships safely out of these restricted Waterways, so that they can freely and ably get on with their business.
Again, these are Ships from areas of the World that are not in any way involved with that which is currently taking place in the Middle East.
I have told my Representatives to inform them that we will use best efforts to get their Ships and Crews safely out of the Strait. In all cases, they said they will not be returning until the area becomes safe for navigation, and everything else. This process, Project Freedom, will begin Monday morning, Middle East time.
I am fully aware that my Representatives are having very positive discussions with the Country of Iran, and that these discussions could lead to something very positive for all. The Ship movement is merely meant to free up people, companies, and Countries that have done absolutely nothing wrong — They are victims of circumstance.
This is a Humanitarian gesture on behalf of the United States, Middle Eastern Countries but, in particular, the Country of Iran.
Many of these Ships are running low on food, and everything else necessary for largescale crews to stay on board in a healthy and sanitary manner. I think it would go a long way in showing Goodwill on behalf of all of those who have been fighting so strenuously over the last number of months.
If, in any way, this Humanitarian process is interfered with, that interference will, unfortunately, have to be dealt with forcefully. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
DONALD J. TRUMP
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
