I purchased some stereo computer speakers w/woofer from a vendor on Amazon. They arrived on schedule but the box had already been ripped open and the cables shoved in all tangled up like a backlash on a fishing reel. The protective sleeves for the items were at the bottom of the box.
Also, the other owner neglected to put the instructions back in the box. So, I'm gwine return it.
I formerly returned items for free dropoff at the nearest UPS store. But, they've changed it. Now it's either Whole Foods or Rent A Center. However, Rent A Centers locally are not equipped to offer such a service. They say they've been informed they'll be doing such returns but they've received no equipment for such.
That leaves Whole Foods as the only other option. Bummer, as they're on the other side of the next city over.
First World Problems.

We can bring them back to Kohls where I am. of course, you go to Kohls to check out the kitchen stuff…and then buy it from Amazon, so its like their showroom to start with.
I’d check how much credit Amazon gives you for your return. I’ll bet it’s a dollar short...
also have had a few purchases ‘get lost’ in transit- had a $200 floor heater get lost in utah- many states away- Amazon did credit the account- but woudl have rather had the heater- needed it this winter! lost a couple other puirchases too-
I have only returned 2 or 3 items ever. Local Staples that’s about 8 miles away. What I don’t like is that I only get an Amazon credit, not a refund to my card. Grrr. Not a big deal but the last item was several hundred dollars.
Amazon cares about customer service
until they don’t
If you look at the return page, after whole foods, there’s a link to other options, ups drop-off and pickup are there as well as others.
We use UPS in Illinois.
I just returned using FedEx last week
Had to go to a store of course
If you haven’t returned it, yet, click CANCEL return.
Then, go back to your purchases and click RETURN for that item.
You should show UPS, Kohls, Whole Foods and ... lately ... FedEx, as options. We tried returning something at a FedEx store and it was AWFUL. Our closest UPS store people are great. Never a line, easy to park, etc.
Be sure to tell them it was obviously used.
I recently had to return an expensive electronic. The *seal* was lifted and barely stuck back ... the cord was mangled (not wrapped neatly, like NEW products usually are), and, this is SO gross ... greasy fingerprints on surface of it.
The first few choices as to where to take the package to be returned did not have UPS as an option.
I think it was Whole Foods and Kohls.
There was an “Other Options” button, that, when selected, opened a dropdown box to at least 4-5 more options including UPS.
You may have missed the “other options” button.
I know I initially overlooked it when arranging for my return.
Try kohl’s
Around here it’s Staples
I was going to recommend Gateway Electronics (near St. Louis, MO), as they used to do mail order in addition to their great store that I frequented for about 47 years, but they have closed. :-(
There’s not much left for us electronics hobbyists. :-( :-(
I ordered 10 items that were supposed to be new.
Plastic injected molded items for use with cattle. 9 were new. One was used. I posted about it and Amazon rejected my post due to unstated issues.
Oh well, cheap chinese crap gets cheap chinese crap with a used item thrown in for whatever reason.
FedEx has SUCKED ever since Raj took over as CEO a few years ago...
Yeah, it’s Staples here now instead of the UPS store. About the same for me.
We can also use Staples & Kohls
They default to Whole foods, but you can scroll down and still use UPS
Keep in mind if the purchase was another vendor on Amazon and not a purchase direct from Amazon itself, the return rules are totally different. I found that out the hard way a long time ago.
Returned something just a few weeks ago and used UPS Store.
