Hags: Two Supreme Court justices are reportedly bosses from hell on their clerks and staff, new book alleges

Why are Democrats so loaded with nasty, vicious women?

A new book by respected Washington columnist and editor Mollie Hemingway came out with some doozies of information about the sheer unbearableness of Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor, who are apparently nightmares to work for for all who come into their orbit.

According to the Daily Mail:

In her forthcoming book, Alito: The Justice Who Reshaped the Supreme Court and Restored the Constitution, conservative journalist and author Mollie Hemingway lifts the lid on the justices' treatment of clerks. ...

Hemingway, who spoke with over 100 former clerks and staff for the book, sensationally claims that liberal Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor are the worst justices to clerk for.

Hemingway alleges that several of Kagan's former clerks, 'along with others at the Court, have described her as "emotionally abusive," "demanding, demoralizing, demeaning," and "a hard a**."'

'Kagan's clerks had fear in their eyes,' Hemingway said someone who clerked for a different justice recounted to her.

Other former aides speculated that there is 'something psychological going on there,' Hemingway writes.

Other clerks compared Kagan to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, moving from 'extremely kind to extremely angry,' Hemingway claims.

Another former staffer said Kagan is 'like Klobuchar' - a reference to Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar, who was the subject of a New York Times article about her alleged poor treatment of her staff.

Meanwhile, Sotomayor is said to have treated members of the Court's 'permanent staff' like 'valet[s].'

There are known 'stories of [Sotomayor] barking at them to help her carry her bags,' per Hemingway's book.

Hemingway describes Kagan and Sotomayor's behavior as distinct from their colleagues', and notes that most former clerks and permanent staff members have great opinions of their former bosses.

Aren’t they both lesbians?
And isn’t this a common trait among lesbos?

A common psychological trait of homosexuals is that they are always conscious of who the dominant party is in any given relationship or act.

You can look at the average IQ. And then remember that half are lower than that. They aren’t scientists.

Maybe KJB hasn't been there long enough to gather evidence on her.

Sheila Jackson Lee was another one with a terrible reputation.

Just wondering. Whatever that is to you must be crystal clear, but you are the only one in the universe that can grasp it.

Once upon a time I worked in a leftist organization with the head boss being a female. She’s the only person I can ever recall that never smiled or laughed at a joke. She had a constant scowl on her face and her policies reflected a very unhappy person that wanted to make everyone else equally unhappy. I had no choice but to move on.

Democrats are very unhappy people and only want to share their misery with others.

Underneath that basketball court is the SCOTUS courtroom.

The “SCOTUS basketball court” is a fun bit of Supreme Court trivia. It’s a real, full (but undersized) basketball court located on the fifth floor of the United States Supreme Court Building in Washington, D.C. — one floor directly above the actual courtroom (on the fourth floor). Because of its literal position and the Court’s nickname as “the highest court in the land,” it’s playfully called “The Highest Court in the Land.”Quick Facts:Originally a storage area when the building opened in 1935, it was converted into a gym/basketball court in the 1940s.
The court is smaller than regulation (about 78 ft × 37 ft), with a low ceiling (only 14 ft 4 in), which makes for some awkward play.
It features hardwood flooring (renovated in 2015), plexiglass backboards, and a large Supreme Court seal (eagle) at midcourt.
A sign near the entrance warns: “Playing basketball and weight lifting are prohibited while the Court is in session” — because the noise can be heard downstairs.

It’s mainly used by Supreme Court law clerks, staff, and off-duty Supreme Court Police officers. Some justices have played over the years, most notably Byron White (a former NFL player and the first known justice to use it), and others like Elena Kagan and Brett Kavanaugh have been known to join pickup games as clerks or justices. It’s a lighthearted symbol of how even the highest levels of government have a place for casual recreation — and a reminder that, for a few hours, ideological differences sometimes take a back seat to hoops.

Kagan and Scalia were friends. They do things together. Can’t remember if fish or hunt?

I think there are likely two sides to this, especially with Kagan. I'm not surprised if she's perceived by clerks as a hard ass - she's the smartest and most capable of the three Democrat appointees, and her opinions are the most well-written. That likely leads to her being a more demanding boss.

I think the "other side" of this is the job expectations of her leftist clerks. I think a lot of leftists are far more "sensitive" about feelings than are conservatives, and are more likely to have somewhat delusional expectations about how hard it is to work in the real world. So, when they run into a tough boss, they whine about it a lot more than would a conservative.

Hemingway alleges that several of Kagan's former clerks, 'along with others at the Court, have described her as "emotionally abusive," "demanding, demoralizing, demeaning," and "a hard a**."'

That type of treatment would get the Boss fired and the company sued for emotional distress caused by job-related emotional abuse. But you know our Dear Leaders are special….

Kagan is very smart. Unfortunately she is a liberal.

Exactly. She's much brighter than the other two. I've read a lot of her opinions with which I disagree, but never one where I just thought "this is a stupid argument". Jackson and Sotomayor, on the other hand....

Liberals by nature are just nasty people at anything.
