I'm guessing this rod was made between 1950-1970, but, if it was a "grandpa's rod", who knows? It did not have a reel on it when I bought it. It has one of those old recessed reel seats on it, so it matches up well with some of my fixed up vintage reels.

The best way to proceed would be to use "Google Lens" app. If app is not on your phone, get it from Google Plays Store (free).

I have had great luck identifying items through Google Lens.

It might help to know whether it's a spinning rod, a spin-casting rod, a trout rod, etc.

Take the closest, sharpest photo you can of the identifying characteristic - then upload the photo in a Grok query, asking if it can identify the model of fishing rod with this labeling. No guarantees, but you never know.

You really need and in-depth photo for something like this.
There are rods still around from the 1930’s.Many were steel blanks and guides that still hold up,truly amazing.
Without a photo its near impossible to make a guess.
I have rebuilt a lot of old rods some have had amazing longevity,close to 100 years.
We,Key Largo Rods, have been building rods since the late 1970’s and some of those rods are still around. But, this rod is likely a short 5 1/2’ plug rod, with possibly a cork butt grip.Other than that it's impossible to make and educated guess.

Was it a long rod with little flex? Because my first guess would be a Flippin Stick. But they came out I think in the 90’s. I had one.

The only other one I can think of from the 70’s is a Fiji Stick. I found one in some store like K Mart marked $5.95 and it was a $50 rod so I snatched it up and felt like a criminal all the way through checkout. Had that rod for years.

My primary fishing reels are Mitchell 300 from the late 1960s early 1970s when they were still made in France and had metal gears. I’ve opted to use more modern carbon fiber rods over the old fiberglass. My grandkids are using the venerable Zebco 202 Combo kits, though the quality isn’t what they used to be back in the day.
