Former President Joe Biden reportedly wanted Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to be his vice president but “had to choose” former Vice President Kamala Harris.
An Atlantic article profiled the Democratic governor and potential 2028 presidential candidate on Sunday and reported how Biden considered Whitmer for his running mate in 2020, particularly after her pushback against President Trump.
Though Whitmer was ultimately not chosen, the Atlantic claimed that Biden “wanted it to be Whitmer” and was pushed into picking Harris after the Black Lives Matter protests.
“All of this attention seemed like it might add up to something, and by summer 2020, Whitmer was being vetted for vice president,” the report read.
“She wasn’t sure about it at first, people familiar with her thinking at the time told me; she struggled to imagine herself as a creature of Washington, DC.
“She got along well with Biden, though, and by the time he asked her to fly to Delaware for an in-person chat, she was ready to say yes. Biden didn’t ask.”

Biden didn’t decide squat.
The Democratic Party is run by an unelected committee who make all the big decisions. Biden was a placeholder who took orders.
Sorry, Gretchen, you are in a protected class, but not as protected as Kamala’s.

I imagine Obama’s folks and Soros’ folks TOLD Biden to pick Harris, or else. The elite apparatchiks of the Dim party - in charge from no matter where is their known party or other public or private position - tell the Dim’s who to pick. If they don’t listen they will unmask them with all the dirt they have on them. Political blackmail within the “party”. Steyer is one of those “in charge” people in California and he more or less signaled to the party it was time to unleash all the dirt the party already knew about Swalwell.
Obama was every bit the puppet that Biden was. Guy hasn’t had an original thought in his life.

It also had to with California’s stupid jungle primary - every entrant from any party is thrown together in the “non-partisan” primary, and even if the top two contenders are really from the same party they become the only two choices in the general election. This is the jungle primary method that began the process of making California a de facto one-party state. With numerous Dims on the ballot there is so many Dims running that the two GOP candidates are polling in 1st and 2nd place. With no Dims dropping out there was some chance that the Dim vote would be so splintered the GOP would have the two positions on the ballot in November. Somebody had to get one or more Dims off the primary ballot. Steyer is hoping he’ll get the lion’s share of the votes that might otherwise have gone to Swalwell, the get 1st or 2nd spot in the primary and win the general.
Ah, but she was only 12 years old.
The only decision Biden has made in 5 years is what color pudding to eat.
Biden had no idea who Harris was or what the White House was he kept looking for the seats to see the movie.

I hadn’t heard that, but she was probably somewhere on the list. Val Demings of Florida was rumored to be high on the list. She had been a policewoman and police chief and was from Florida, which was more in play electorally than California was.
Harris is a certified moron. but still got an alarming percent of the vote.
