President Donald Trump was non-committal on what could happen to the price of oil ahead of November’s midterm elections — even floating the prospect that they could go “a little bit higher.”
In an interview on Sunday Morning Futures, Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo quizzed Trump on whether his newly-announced naval blockade on ships going in and out of the Strait of Hormuz.
“Is this all going to be enough, the blockade in the strait, the opening up capacity in the United States, is this going to enough to lower the price of oil and gas, sir?” Bartiromo said.
The president responded that oil prices will go down “eventually,” but his short-term forecast was less rosy.
“Well, it’s eventually going to be lower,” Trump replied. “No, it might not happen initially, but it’s gonna go down when this is all over.”
The president went to claim, “the gas hasn’t gone up as much as I thought.”
“But regardless, even if it did… we have to stop this group of people from having [a nuclear weapon],” Trump said. He added, “You can’t let them have a nuclear weapon. So I just have the greatest economy ever, everything’s going along and … I tell my economic advisors, ‘I’m sorry, fellas, we’re in great shape. We have go and take a little journey down to Iran, and we have to stop them from having a nuclear weapon.’ They all said, ‘we agree.'”
Bartiromo tried to press Trump on a timeline for when prices might come down.
“So do you believe the price of oil and gas will be lower before the midterm elections?” Bartiromo asked.
But Trump seemed far from optimistic a price reduction would happen in time for the fall.
“I hope so,” Trump said. “I mean, I think so. It could be. It could be. Or the same. Or maybe a little bit higher. But it should be around the same. I think this won’t be that much longer.”
Oil traded as high as $115 per barrel last week prior to the announcement of a two-week ceasefire. It ended the week just over $89 per barrel, but seems highly likely to spike on Monday following the announcement of the blockade.
Consumers have been seeing those higher prices reflected at the pump. GasBuddy, a website which tracks gas prices, currently has the national average at $4.10 per gallon, up from just over $2.90 in early March.

If oil prices are at current levels in November then (1) there will have been zero cooperation from Iran, and (2) opening the Strait of Hormus will have taken too long.
Trump needs to warn the Mullahs that any threats, or actions, by them, against any oil shipments in the Persian Gulf, will result in power, seaport, refinery, fuel storage destruction across Iran. We’ll turn their lights off.
Most are in deep red states. The vast bulk of President Trump’s unpopularity is on Blue States. Plus Democrats are about to pick a guy with a Nazi ratio in Maine. Collin’s will destroy him.
And the republicans are going to get killed in the midterms and Trump will end up getting himself impeached again and the R’s won’t be able to stop it.

FYI, in the House, the Republicans are defending 36 open seats (due to retirements and some just deciding not to run), while the democrats have only 21 open seats this fall. The midterms are going to be very, very difficult in both Houses of Congress.
Redistricting could have helped, and still might, but Indiana is the latest example of RINO’s capitulating….sad.

BTW when 75% of voters agree on something that automatically means at least 10% are Democrats. Democrats can’t afford to lose one percent of their voters let alone 10%.
Democrats are at an all time low with White men.

They can’t use Act Blue or the child care or hospice scams to raise money and the DNC is currently minus $15million while the RNC is plus $125 million.
Democrats are on record as not willing to protect American citizens from illegal aliens. They are on record for saying their priority is the illegal alien.
They have clear ties to communism. They show how much they hate America every day.
This doesn’t even touch the fact that they have lost enough Black and Hispanic voters to make a difference.
Facts and time will make your job of tamping down Republican enthusiasm harder as we go forward.
I think we hold at 53 Senate Seats, and the Democrats gain 9 to 11 House Seats. Small Majority for them. Holding the Senate is MUCH MOTE IMPORTANT. When the SCOTUS rules on the Voting Rights Act, we can gain 29 seats in 2028.

Agree, after the totally bogus impeachments of Trump—without a conviction (which will not happen), impeachment is the equivalent of a political traffic ticket.
