I’ve read about people pledging “our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor” for their country.

In my entire career, I lived at a fraction of my potential. Not one new car. A house that was well within my means. I scrimped and saved and brought my lunch most days. Because, if, one day I was ordered to do something that was illegal or unethical, I could just walk out the door. Occasionally, those circumstances did arise, but because I could walk out the door, they didn’t happen to me.
