Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) says she will force a House floor vote next week on removing embattled Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) from Congress following stunning sexual assault allegations against him – saying she won’t serve with “sexual deviants.”
Luna made the comment to Fox News on Saturday, a day after a former unidentified staffer said he sexually assaulted her on two occasions while she was intoxicated, including at a 2024 charity gala in New York.
“I hate having to be kind of the hall monitor of Congress if you will, but it’s gotten really bad,” she said. “Eric has the option. I’m going to bring this vote next week. If Democrats want to protect this type of garbage – I wouldn’t recommend it – but they’re going to be put on the board for that.”
“I am filing a motion to expel Eric Swalwell from Congress,” she simultaneously announced on X.
A motion to expel is considered privileged in the House – meaning Luna can compel lawmakers to vote up or down on Swalwell, who is a leading Democratic candidate for governor in the race to succeed Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Luna called for Swalwell’s alleged victims to present evidence to congressional offices “directly” as a way to counter Swalwell using campaign funds “to try to fight them out in court.”
Aides to Swalwell’s campaign have reportedly been bailing since the stunning allegations surfaced Friday.
House Speaker Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and other House leaders issued a statement Friday night on the “incredibly disturbing sexual assault accusations” and called for Swalwell to immediately end his campaign for governor, where he has been polling with front-runners.

Swalwell’s Lawyer said Eric is busy when asked why he can’t answer questions directly.

He will be replaced by some one who votes exactly the same way.
I am against this. Make this a democrat problem and encourage them to throw him out. If they do, good. If they do not we can shame them.
I can see a future in the house where one side can just throw members out they do no like for no just reason.
Relative to Anna Paulina Luna, she does rest easy on one’s eyes, very easy. She is a lovely woman.

Two thirds need to vote for expulsion. Won’t happen unless 100% of the democrats run for the tall grass. Then will enough republicans play? Probably. We can then say Governor Porter-good for the chubby chasers.
Makes sense, really. Gets Swalwell out of the way of Newsom.
I agree. Swalwell is a despicable POS, but expulsion for allegations is setting a risky precedent. If that were to be done, it ought to at least be by his own party.
My congresswoman better than the last two morons that was in office (Charlie Crist and Dave Jolly, now both Democrats.)
