@RandPaul
Trump is right to reconsider NATO. Under Article II, the president has full constitutional authority to withdraw from any treaty without Senate approval. The 2023 Kaine-Rubio provision can't override the Constitution. It's his call to make.
The Constitution says nothing about how to exit treaties, so that power remains with the president. The Founders designed it this way deliberately: hard to get in, easy to get out when an alliance no longer serves America's interests.
Trump is forcing the conversation Washington refuses to have: do our alliances benefit America, or just trap us indefinitely? Alliances should serve our interests, not the other way around. Fair burden-sharing isn't isolationism. It's sanity.

Figures you are 50 years behind the times.
Libertarian Party Platform:
National borders: Throw open the borders completely; only a rare individual (terrorist, disease carrier etc.) can be kept from freedom of movement through “political boundaries.” Eliminate the Border Patrol and ICE.
Homosexuals: total freedom in the military, gay marriage, adoption, child custody and everything else.
Abortion: zero restrictions. No impediments full 9 months.
Pornography: no restraints, no restrictions.
Drugs; Meth, Heroin, Crack, marijuana: zero restrictions. Vending machine availability.
Prostitution: legal and unrestricted.
Military Strength; minimal capabilities.
You’re confusing the US Libertarian Party with libertarians (note the small l). Rand has been in the G.O.P his entire life
Oh, grow up. There’s no evidence that RandFan is a multi user account.
“ Congress has ARTICLE I, SECTION 8 power to set rules for the government.”
You might want to reread that.

Semantics. A turd is a turd is a.....
He should propose a bill to repeal 2023 National Defense Authorization Act that requires a 75% of votes in Congress to withdraw from a treaty.
It’s easier to stay in NATO but do the very minimum. Reduce the troops in Europe to only couple hundreds, send them to the Middle East. If Russia attacks the Baltic countries, provide intelligence, etc. but no troops. If troops are needed create impossible rules of engagement, as many countries did in Iraq war: not in combat zones, only go to combat in daylight, etc.
If there’s conflict like Ukraine, Libya, etc just tell them “Not American war”. Maybe tell Xavier Malei that Argentina may want to reclaim the small group of islands called Malvinas.
Finally, this is optional, ditribute books on how to speak Russian since the younger generation may not speak the language.
The world is not Libertarian but loves to take advantage of them and their mythic ideas.
I am no expert I’ll leave it to others but generally - I think- the law is considered to be the Constitution and cannot be overridden
Our weapons systems and military people should be able to work with each other’s.
One would think our Air Force could get fuel from Spain or others in NATO.
BobL wrote: “And to you Zeepers: NO, the Big Bad Wolf from the East has no interest in trying to occupy a bunch of countries halfway through their Death Spiral.”
Their ‘death spiral’ only makes them ‘low hanging fruit’. Putin has stated the collapse of the Soviet Union “was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century.” And, some believe Putin wouldn’t reestablish the USSR? You have heard of his actions in reaquiring the Crimea and Georgia?
When was the last time you came here and RandFan was NOT posting or actively using FR?
Hey, check out the broken clock!
“ I am no expert….”
That’s obvious.
“ I think- the law is considered to be the Constitution and cannot be overridden.”
That doesn’t even make sense.

Rand is on a good train this time.
But I would suggest... moderation at least at the start...
telling France, Spain, UK that we will NOT defend them so long at least as they have their present anti-American governments.
and reducing our subsidization of NATO accordingly.
Then see where things are...
China is also in bad shape because of their one child policy. China could be even worse because you can not believe their numbers published. They recently admitted that their population fell from 1.5 to 1.4 Billion. That .1 is 100 million people.
The difference is that people from the third world countries actually WANT to go to the EU, Canada and the USA. So, we can let in as many as we want. Japan is finally reconsidering their immigration policy. China is screwed because nobody wants to move there.
Italy has an issue with African migrants because of their location close to Tunisia. Italy got so bad five/ten years ago that they were actually selling houses for 1Euro.
They still are giving an incentive for people to retire there. A 7% income tax rate IF you move to a small town in the southern provinces. It has attracted lots of retirees from the UK. Plus quite a few from the US and Canada. Even real estate in Tuscany have dropped 50% in places. Unless it is an AirBnB tourist location.
Update your script.
Well, correct me then?
Does the Kaine/Rubio law take precedence?
