I got this email: Your Experian credit file has new alerts, including an increase in credit balance.
Then they want me to log on to my (rarely used) account.
There's no urgency in the tone of the message. And they say there's an increase in a credit balance. Yeah, maybe it's because I use a credit card for a lot of purchases (which, I pay off regularly).
??

Block and ignore. If you really care about the credit score use the links through the credit card company.
I get that stuff all the time in my email. Its bogus.
Google AI says:
The four major credit bureaus in the U.S. are
Equifax, Experian, TransUnion, and Innovis.
One required I send them a letter via US mail. They then sent a letter back to keep when I want to unfreeze my credit with the code number.
Their version of multi factor authenticfication
I understand the hotlinks they provide takes you to a site marketing medical alert devices.
I get the same Experian crap. I ignore it.
They want you to log on so they can push Push PUSH!! upgrading your Experian experience to one of their more expen$ive offerings.
Not exactly a scam, just a high-pressure sales technique. IMHO.
Smells like Nigerians... their kind of scam. The refund and IRS scams that demand phone contact, that’s the Currys. The ones that do not require phone contact are handled by the Nigerian chimps. They kind of split up the crime like the Penquin and the Riddler
See post 23...innovis will send letter
We did innovis online...do not have to join, just freeze...then they sent confirm letter
Another case of making a business by creating a problem and then offering a solution. The credit reporting agencies created the “credit score”. Then they offer to help you keep track of their nonsense for a fee.
“An increase in your credit balance” means the filth who run these organizations are desperate for you to work harder for them.
When one of my kids pays off a balance, or even comes close, the mailbox is filled with offers for MORE cards with MORE “benefits”.
Usury is a Christian sin, and it used to be a crime as well. Private credit has its foot on the neck of the people, and it won’t let up until it is properly regulated or abolished altogether.
I just checked the account and it was higher than usual.
Thank you very much!
This is normal. I get this all the time from them, including minor changes up and down in my credit usage rate.
Experian. Talk about getting my hackles up. All these absolute stupid emails nearly every day. I get curious, go and login, find THEY are showing my credit rating to be “ “. Not gonna show but it’s like a nearly 65-point drop. I’m like good gravy I’m not doing a daggum wrong thing I pay my bills on time, I’m not maxed out on some card. Yes the financial squeeze is definitely seriously on but trusting GOD as my Source. Because HE IS and is in control, always.
I go to my bank to see what my credit score is, the FICO hasn’t been updated since mid-2025.
???
The whole credit thing is a scam.
But then there’s this.
I understand fully about any institution being completely reluctant to drop even a high interest loan especially a chunky one into the lap of a high risk applicant. There is about a 100% chance that institution will never see payment one on that loan, ever.
It had to be about 30-35 years ago I approached my bank (same bank I’ve been at always) for a loan. Can’t remember how much but basically not a huge sum of money. But it had to have collateral. No sign here ok, here’s your $$, hope you pay us back.
Bring in your vehicle title. Appraisal and jewelry piece. Valuable tangible asset.
Whatever you choose, if it makes the grade as more than or equal to the loan, it qualifies. You don’t pay the loan, the bank takes the collateral item until you do.
Now it’s take the money and run. Or max out one card after another. I just don’t understand it.
I froze my credit 8-10 years ago. I recall one agency was easy to do. I did it online. Another I think I had to send an email. However, one required a letter through the US mail. Then they replied with a letter and the code number I should keep in a safe place to unfreeze it easier in the future.
Since then my wife froze hers. Then my son had someone in MA file for benefits in his name. He was living in a low life town and someone probably stole his mail. He received a letter from the Massachusetts Unemployment office asking him to complete his application for benefits. He spent a day cleaning up that mess. Had to go in person to say I did not file for benefits. Scum bag scammers.
Why can’t we have nice things anymore? It’s rhetorical...yes I would like to return to the 1950s some days.
If you watch the most recent Nick Shirley video about the hospice scammers out on LA you will see that they all exist based on stealing someones legitimate Medicare number.
I am 62. So, I have not applied for Medicare yet. My mother in law(82) says she gets calls all the time from scammers trying to get her Medicare number. Then they will file for benefits in her name.
The scammers set up in these motels where If the heat is on they can close up shop and reopen somewhere else under a different name. There were dozens of these “hospice” providers working out of the old motel that Shirley showed on his video.
Sickening...
