Mamdani skips Bernie Sanders’ Bronx ‘Tax the Rich’ rally as tensions over lefty legislation mount with Gov. Hochul

Lefties turned out in droves for Sunday’s “Tax the Rich” rally featuring Sen. Bernie Sanders in The Bronx — but Mayor Zohran Mamdani refused to show face as he walks a tightrope with Gov. Hochul over taxes.

At least 1,000 people filled Lehman College’s sprawling performing arts center, where Sanders (I-Vt.) spent nearly an hour pushing his own proposal targeting the wealthy.

“A few years ago, it was estimated that Elon Musk, the wealthiest man alive, paid an effective tax rate of less than 3.3%, while the average truck driver in America paid an effective tax rate of 8.4%,” Bernie told the crowd, which answered with agreeing boos and chants of “Shame! Shame!”

“That is what the mayor of New York City is fighting for,” said Sanders, 84.

“All over this country, in New York state, and here in New York City, the American people are demanding a tax system which is progressive, which is fair, and demands those people who have the much, who have the most, start paying their fair share.”

Sanders has been pushing for an extra 5% tax nationwide on anybody worth $1 billion or more — a move resembling the 2% proposed extra tax on New Yorkers earning $1 million or more that Mamdani has been pressuring Hochul to approve since taking office in January.

Hochul — the only real stumbling block to pass the Mamdani tax — has come right out and said she would not support such legislation, leading to a diplomatic dance between the state’s two most powerful leaders as June budget deadlines and November elections loom.

Notice thee never propose a flat tax rate.

While the average truck driver according to the socialist Sanders was 3.3% I can assure you my middle-class self paid 24% Fed and 8% state last year.

Truth is the top 10% income earners pay something like 85% of the taxes.

Sanders is both lying and tax illiterate.

Sanders is just lying. Communist who wants to divide Americans based on class. Typical technique, old technique, been used by Socialsts/Communists to rally people for over a hundred years.

The fascinating thing to me is the utter ignorance of those that have not watched this game plan unfold so many times, and how bad it destroys counties and peoples. Teachers unions have done such a good job lying to the youth for so long. People are no longer functional to learn history, look around, and ask fundamental questions like “Why is Bernie Sanders Rich?”. I guess people don’t read animal farm anymore.

The wealthy spend much of their income on investments that bring new jobs. The tax obsessed Commies don’t care about investments. Much of the taxes go to NGOs that act as money launderers used to line Commie pockets. The whole Marxist system is a huge turd on the political landscape.

You know government spending is out of control when you hold, attend, and support a “raise THEIR taxes!” rally. You yourself should be ready to pay the same new tax you demand on someone else, since the likes of Sanders and Hochul believe in fairness and equality so much.
You know, when money gets a little tight in our house we don’t go out and rob more from someone else, we stop spending!! Be nice if our trusted leaders thought that way.

Bernie, the simpleton socialist, is no match for ISLAMamdani. Zohran is bored with the crusty old rich guy masquerading as a commie.

Before the Fed there was no income tax. Tariffs funded our government. Why not abolish income tax altogether?

An alternative is declaring your income and claiming lawful money thru 12-411 process.

Think about it!!

Notice the old fool didn’t mention his own tax rate? Or insider trading? Makes you wonder how he can afford three or four multi million $ mansions scattered about with a $174,000 salary.

IOW, the Demagogic Party advocates higher taxes on some, rather than cutting taxes for most.

Back in the day.

Successful man driving a Buick or Cadillac.
Father would point and tell his son, “see that guy, he did it the right way, you could be that man when you grow up”

Sanders is both lying and tax illiterate.

If Sanders and his ilk ever told the truth, they would never be elected.

Not a word about reducing the size and cost of government. Because there are those things that are sacred to socialists, and once put in place may only be expanded or duplicated.

The turnout was described as being in “droves”. Apparently from the article, droves = 1000.

When the more tyrannical Roman emperors needed money to fund their self-indulgent, self-aggrandizing projects (which they alleged were for the people), they forced rich Roman senators to leave all their wealth to the state or the City of Rome in their wills and then forced them to commit suicide. That’s probably next on the Mamdani / Sanders agenda.
