I would rather dress comfortably. Suits suck. I don’t want to put a noose on. Shorts and t-shirts is good enough for me. I wouldn’t eat anyplace that disagrees. Luckily I live in Tucson. We’re casual here. Even great restaurants. So we can not dress up, and not go to Chilis. Honestly all the people whining about how we now dress comfortably are just silly. Really, if you have a problem with people wearing a down vest in chilly weather, that’s a YOU problem. Dress how you want, and we won’t bother you. We dress how we want, you should keep your opinion to yourself.
I remember back in the day in Tucson when you went to pinnacle Peak with a tie on, they would cut it off of you and staple it to the wall.
If your suit is uncomfortable, get one that fits.
You must be between 20-40. Impressions matter. And how you dress says a lot about who you are. I wear very comfortable clothes, shorts, tees, clean sweatpants etc., to go to Lowes, CVS or Kroger’s. If I’m going to a Chili’s I dress for Chili’s, which is very different from how I’d dress to go to RCs. If I want to go somewhere nice, I dress like I belong somewhere nice. It’s a small price to pay. I firmly believe the general loss of proper dress and appearance has led to much of the incivility we see today. You don’t live in a bubble and the ‘If it feels good, do it’ attitude is so 60’s. Grow up.
I dressed in jeans and work clothes my whole working life and still do, just not the hard hat and steel-toed boots these days. I don’t worry about restaurant dress codes, because I couldn’t afford to eat at those places anyway.
Other people can dress how they like. They can even look down on the way I dress. Makes no difference to me.
You're a low life slob and don't want to hear it.
Even if you have a boat load of money, you are still a hog, looking for a stye, dress how you want, but if you come on FR, you will get opposing opinions, tough...piggy.
I concur. I'm convinced that a very angry woman invented the neck-tie. Suits -- I have a closet full of Brooks Brothers suits from my long career as a trial lawyer. Since I am semi-retired and no longer litigate cases, I only wear a suit for weddings and funerals. We live in the foothills about 45 minutes north of downtown Phoenix. Dressing up means wiping the dust from my boots and Stetson.
I like Hawaii formal. That’s when you wear close toe shoes instead of slippahs with the aloha shirt you’ve had for forty years. Always a classic.
But back stateside. I go no where that requires formal. As for the latest craze for lamenting the quit and tie for flying. Let’s bring back smoking sections too where the sharp dressed can smoke cigars and cigarettes on a 15 hour flight. Ah the good ol days.
You don’t need a tie. Just a sport jacket and a button down. Sheesh.
