IMHO, it makes no sense that the children of Italian mothers faced a court battle, a greater expense, and a longer wait, while thousands of other people were granted citizenship more easily through distant ancestors. I wish all people of Italian descent could be granted citizenship easily, if they want it. But, if anyone should be granted citizenship, the children of Italian mothers or fathers should be first in line.
Watched my mother cope with the vagaries of Italian bureaucracy.
