The maker of Ozempic, Novo Nordisk, has been hit with a lawsuit over allegations of wrongful death after a woman using the drug died from gastroparesis, a condition also known as stomach paralysis. Novo Nordisk denied the allegations.
Marsha Ettinghoff, 76, who had been taking the weight loss drug for six months, died from stomach paralysis, a condition where food passes through the stomach slower than it should, in August 2024 after feeling ill on holiday, attorneys representing her husband, Tracy Ettinghoff said. The attorneys, from the law firm Motley Rice, said the couple believed she had food poisoning after Ettinghoff experienced nausea and vomiting and said doctors prescribed her antibiotics and anti-nausea medications.
But after a few days, Ettinghoff complained she felt as if she had stuff regurgitating in her throat, Motley Rice said. They said her son then found her struggling to breath and as her family drove her to hospital she aspirated on her vomit and died.(snip)
Ettinghoff's family filed a lawsuit alleging that Novo Nordisk knew or should have known the risks posed by GLP-1 RA medications, including severe gastrointestinal complications and other injuries, but failed to update their warnings and labeling to adequately inform doctors and patients," Jonathan Orent, a Motley Rice attorney said. "They had a responsibility to disclose what they knew, and they didn’t."

Per Google AI:
“As of March 2026, Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly are facing over 3,300 lawsuits consolidated in federal court (Multidistrict Litigation - MDL 3094) in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The lawsuits allege that GLP-1 receptor agonist drugs, including Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, Mounjaro, and Trulicity, cause severe gastrointestinal and other health complications that were not adequately warned about.”
Isn’t 76 is beyond the expiration date of most living things.

You won’t think so if you are lucky enough to reach that age.
70 is the official expiration date, years beyond that are victory laps.
Life expectancy in the US is 78.4 years:
Males: 75.8 years
Females: 81.1 years
This lawsuit will go nowhere. Death is a stated side effect of Ozempic.
Geez, best wishes for continued if even slight improvements! I have an autoimmune condition but except for occasional flareups it’s under control and not a daily battle, mainly just unusual levels of fatigue by evening most days.
Joe Biden was an awful example of somebody in their 70’s.
I was able to do well with just diet changes at first, but I just couldn’t do it forever. The only way I could get my blood sugar down was NO carbs. I couldn’t do ANY cheat days. Any carbs at all would break the cycle and my blood sugar would increase.
Then one day I looked at the next rice cake and said “I can’t do this any more”.
Diets are very hard to do forever.
So, with Metformin and Jardiance and eating carefully (no bread, very limited other carbs, the occasional potato) I was able to get it down quite a bit, but then Ozempic brought it down the where it should be, and I can have things like bread a couple of times a week, and some treats - it feels like a “normal” diet.
Of course, now I am probably hooked for life.

Reading longtime posters on FR is like racing with the undertaker.
“ hung out at a bar the other night with a friend’s 94 year-old Mom. I never touched her but she snuck up on me and kissed me on the cheek!” So the most revelatory question to be answered “is which cheek”?
People are still dying from that shot.
Glp1 is a Godsend. The health risk of obesity far outweighs the risk.
sorry, if the woman was foolish enough to take the crap drug, you get what you chose.
diet pills of decades ago had side effects, evidently nothing has changed with humans, people dont care to read the list of effects before signing over their bodies and bowing to the god of current weight loss gimmicks.
70 is the official expiration date, years beyond that are victory laps.

Yeah like they said, you’d be lucky to reach 70.
In my family the goal is to reach 90.
89 is a good run.
you must have bad genes. not to mention your name.
“People are still dying from that shot.”
Where are they hiding the bodies?
potential patients have the responsibility to look into what they may ingest before doing so. instead they want to shirk their responsibility to their own body and hope some magic pill or potion will do the trick instead of eating right etc.
note: I have asked that my pockets be loaded with my jewelry and cash. Grave Robbers need to work too. Why let my greedy brother take my money?
Here is the lawsuit:
said the couple believed she had food poisoning after Ettinghoff experienced nausea and vomiting and said doctors prescribed her antibiotics and anti-nausea medications.
If she disclosed she was on the medication and they didn’t follow up with a workup for gastroparisis there is going to be one sued hospital.
foods have GLP1 or similar effect. no need for Rx crap ones, except that people will flock to them instead of eating for health instead of preferences.
