"The Evil Dead" star Bruce Campbell announced he's been diagnosed with cancer and will be canceling upcoming appearances. On Monday night, Campbell took to X to share that he has a "treatable" but not "curable" type of cancer. "I apologize if that was a shock — it was for me too," he wrote. "I’m posting this, because professionally, a few things will have to change — appearances and cons and work in general need to take [a] back seat to treatment," Campbell continued. (AA Film Archive) The horror star said he hopes to be well by the summer so he can tour with his comedy movie, "Ernie & Emma," this fall. "There are several cons this year summer that I have to cancel," he continued. "Big regrets on my part. Treatment needs and professional obligations don't always go hand-in-hand." Campbell kept the rest of his message short and sweet, explaining that he's "not trying to enlist sympathy — or advice." "I just want to get ahead of this information in case false information gets out (which it will). Fear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-b---- and I have great support, so I expect to be around a while. As always, you’re the greatest fans in the world and I hope to see you soon!" Campbell concluded.

Bubba Ho-Tep is great. LOL

UGH....
I only remember him in the first ‘Evil Dead’ movie and then ‘Army of Darkness.’
Best wishes to him with the treatments. A person can live a long time with a cancer that’s not curable but treatable.
“Main reason I watched Burn Notice.”
Me, too. Loved that show. Every couple of years I binge watch it. We named our kitten Fiona after Fiona Glennanne. She was tiny and spunky. (She stayed spunky, but tiny ... not so much - LOL!)
“Bruce Campbell is a national treasure as far as I’m concerned.”
Agreed
“Evil Dead” is one of the best horror/comedy/scary movie cycles of all time.
“Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein” level stuff.
Gem Quality
The Evil Dead will run amok without Bruce.
What publisher? I may have heard of them.
I have been out of the field for a while, but I do recall an oncologist telling me that if you biopsied the prostate glands of every 85 year old male, you would find traces in all of them.
I do know that there were 70 year old men diagnosed with prostate cancer who came back to me for fifteen years, nearly every year, and I became good friends with some of them, so there might have been something to that.
If you get diagnosed young, though...in your mid-late fifties, that is definitely not the diagnosis you want. That one is deadly.
But it has been a long time. No doubt things have changed since then.
I’ve heard that. Eventually about every male will get prostate cancer.
My wife and I became very good friends with a 55 year old prostate cancer patient I met and took care of, when we were in the area, we often had dinner with them.
Wonderful people. But the aggressive cancer was merciless, and took him very quickly (relatively speaking)
Very nice couple. Sad.
I quit working in 2017 to help the wife who had kidney cancer and later breast cancer. And then my son who got brain cancer in May 2018. The first and last article I read about his type of cancer said rare and aggressive with a life expectancy of a few months. Both still here. wife is in remission, son is considered stable after being told he was terminal in 2019.
But then someone who is in great shape gets some type of cancer and they are gone very soon. No way to tell what will happen with the disease.
Sigh.
Sadly, bears repeating.
And, by the way...glad to hear that news about your wife and your son.
My gosh, that is a blessed status.
Thank you. I have learned more than I ever wanted to.
Evil Dead2 (remake of the first one.) More blood and humor, where Ash acquires the chainsaw hand. Followed by Army of Darkness.
The first episode of Ash V. The Evil Dead is near perfect.
Hope he gets well.
When I think of Bruce Campbell the first thing that comes to mind is his one-word line, “Groovy!”
It’s the first treatment for virtually every prostate cancer patient.
I had eight bone mets when I was diagnosed. Latest bone scan shows only four at the current time.
