Looking for Old Sci Fi story posted here years ago

Does any one remember a post from many years ago that fits this description.

The Setting: A man is in his study/living room at night, reading by lamplight. * The Visitor: A man appears suddenly. He is gaunt, weary, and dressed in strange or rugged clothing. He reveals he is a descendant of the man he is visiting. * The Warning: He describes a total collapse of American civilization. He explains that there is a way to stop it, but it requires a specific, seemingly mundane change in the present. * The Cryptic Ending: In the final moments, the visitor leans in and whispers the actual catalyst of the apocalypse. The protagonist is so profoundly shaken and terrified by what he hears that he cannot—or will not—repeat it to the reader. The story ends with the protagonist sitting in the dark, unable to look at the world the same way.

Dan Simmons passed away last month.

Current events made me remember it over the weekend but I couldn’t find it.
I remembered it was discussed here so thought I’d ask.

This story was written as a warning against Islam. Fortunately the ultimate weakness with Islam is that it cannot handle the truth. Without Lies , Islam Dies. Thanks to the Internet Mozlems all over the World are exposed to views that are normally censored. I believe this rejection of Islam in Iran is because of the Internet exposing people to the truth.

What is happening to Iran is historic. Never before has an Islamic country had a revolt against Islam itself. The only time Islam has lost territory has been when outside forces have been victorious.  This could be the war that eventually burns down the whole merciless Islamic Colonization Mafia. Are we witnessing the beginning of the end of this cancerous 14 century long plague of ruthless evil ?

Thanks for the heads up. I can hardly believe it has been that long. My eldest daughter was a newborn when I posted it. Sorry to hear that Dan passed away last month, he was an amazing writer. He wrote about Trump long before Trump went into politics.

Having read the original story , thanks to your post today, For the mysterious three words not to be written I like 'America Nukes Mecca' as one that is totally shocking. I have come up with another: Matthew Seven Fifteen.

Matthew 7:15 is a warning from Jesus during the Sermon on the Mount to "beware of false prophets," who appear harmless like sheep but are dangerous "ravenous wolves" inwardly. Shocking in that Jesus predicts that an evil prophet will come after him and that you shall know him by his fruits. The fruits in this case being all the terrible things Islam is known for.
