US-mediated peace talks on Ukraine collapsed in less than two hours after Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky claimed it was unfair that Donald Trump was placing more pressure on his country than on Russia.
The second day of talks concluded on Wednesday, though neither side signalled they were any closer to ending Europe's deadliest conflict since World War II.
The talks wrapped up after just two hours, much shorter than the six hours of meetings on Tuesday, according to the head of Russia's delegation.

They've been trying to ensnare the US via an Article 5 for a while. However, on the bolded bit: absent an attack on the US, if DC were to do that, I would suspect ‘civil unrest’ in the US would ensue (from the productive folks). I think even the Democrats aren't that stupid.
I think the point here is not so much to have Trump intervene as it is to use the issue to win Democrat control of the House and Senate and then impeach President Trump for not intervening. Bottom line is nothing happens until either Zelensky is gone, the Ukraine falls apart or Russia makes a big military offensive move And 7000 people a week die for nothing until it gets resolved.
The 'billions' in funding spigot turned off after Dec 30, 2024.
Congress authorized $400 million in aid Dec 2025.
President Trump said the US had already provided over $300 Billion to Ukraine.
NATO contests that number; I think Trump included USAID and other indirect sources.
Now, the United States provides limited aid to Ukraine in 2026.

Give Zelensky 1 week to make a peace deal or just shutdown all U.S. support for Ukraine....
The Europeans are buying US weapons, then giving them to Ukraine.
So your budgeting needs to account for the indirect transfer process used by Trump.
Maybe we need and old fashioned Duel between the two leaders.
But the US is not providing any of the funding for that. In addition, the US is selling some specific high tech weapons. The bulk of the conventional weapons is now being provided by the Europeans or the Ukrainians themselves, who have ramped up their weapons production. And the biggest killer on the battlefield are drones, which the Ukrainians are manufacturing themselves. And finally, the Ukrainians are starting to develop their own long range weapons. This is not 2022. The Ukrainians are no longer dependent on US aid and would continue to defend themselves if we cut off all aid.

Russia and Ukraine deserve to both lose, on their own dime. You're free to help them fight until the last Ukrainian, the last Russian, the last frog, kraut, and brit and to the last dollar in your pocket; just keep your hands out of mine.
Also - I don't give a damn if we only gave them $20 - their corruption knows no bounds, and it would be $20 too much. Again, neither you nor the other uke welfare trolls have anything to say about all the uke ministers INCLUDING TWO MINISTERS OF DEFENSE with their hand in our cookie jar.
Most of z's ministers, his PM, the oligarch that launched his political campaign, chief of staff #2 man - all found to be corrupt. But, z is as pure as the driven snow. 10s of thousands of military aged men are fleeing the country, and thousands in the army are deserting. But, Ukraine is somehow the cause we need to dump our treasure into. We'd get better use out of putting those billions of dollars in a pile and burning it - at least it would provide warmth.
Maybe if Ukraine was a country worth defending and fighting for like some many bleeding hearts seem to think, their own damned countrymen would spend more time defending the country instead of robbing it blind.
And you can't say it isn' the average ukrainian's fault....because they're a democracy and they voted this administration into office, and are fine with z suspending elections to save their democracy, right? Right?
