Discord has announced a major change coming to the service as part of its aim to improve teen safety features. Starting in March, all users globally will be required to submit age verification via a face scan or submitted ID, or be given teen-level access restrictions.
Age verification across apps and social platforms has been an increased focus of legislative bodies around the world in the last couple years.
In response, Discord has announced a major initiative to ensure that only adults see adult-designated content, while teens are restricted to age-appropriate access.
To do this, Discord says all users worldwide will have their accounts updated to a teen designation by default. This will bring “updated communication settings, restricted access to age-gated spaces, and content filtering.”

The only reason I have Discord is the conservative channel.

Or the high school girls might want to use this one...
Discord is for terrorists. It is part of a terrorist network.
What is a Discord? Thinking I don’t want to search for it...
Primarily used for gaming chat but has evolved into general buffoonery. You should only trust the channels that you know are legit.
The hackers, spammers and scammers on Discord will use AI to create the face scans ,LOL
Thx....Yes..I have become careful of where my clicks go
Bye, bye Discord. Idiotic. Telegram will take full advantage.
So basically — Filter out all their existing user base.
There is only one Discord channel I visit, and it’s for a group into baseball simulations (computer, mobile, cards & dice). It’s a fun group to be around from time to time. Other than that, no thanks.
This is the first step to an ESG score for anyone using these systems. This is why the EU demands such, so that they can control/track anyone who criticizes them.
“Think of the children!!” Oh. bullshitte. How about lazy arsed parents simply find out what their kids are doing and implement some responsibility?
If a site requires identification past your password, walk away.
That’s racist! /s
Do people still play dice based Stratomatic? I stopped following baseball informally after interleague play, and formally after my ex-team, the Dodgers, awarded perverts mocking my Faith.
Discard
Some do, but most use computer software sims. A big reason baseball gaming is popular is the ability to sim seasons, teams, and/or players prior to when all of the modern baseball crap started. For many, this would include anything prior to the 1994-95 MLB strike.
Roblox now requires facial age verification because they were about to get their pants sued off. It’s a gaming site for kids, so child molesters made a bee line to the site.
Then they’d get the kids to chat on Discord or Telegram.
Age verification is a “cover your rear” action and Telegram is likely to follow suit.

Seems reasonable, if not perfect (the only perfect thing this world has ever known was hung on a cross some 2000 years ago).
I will resign any system that requires biometrics.
Excepting passports, which are barely acceptable.
exactly if it was really about ‘protecting the children’ discord would be busy banning the pedos
