Former President Bill Clinton launched an angry attack against House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, as his appearance before the Committee to testify about his links to Jeffrey Epstein approaches.
Clinton gave Comer both barrels in a series of posts on X.
“I have called for the full release of the Epstein files,” Clinton wrote.
“I have provided a sworn statement of what I know. And just this week, I’ve agreed to appear in person before the committee. But it’s still not enough for Republicans on the House Oversight Committee.”
“Now, Chairman Comer says he wants cameras, but only behind closed doors,” he continued.
“Who benefits from this arrangement? It’s not Epstein’s victims, who deserve justice. Not the public, who deserve the truth. It serves only partisan interests. This is not fact-finding, it’s pure politics.”
Then in a third Tweet, Clinton accused Republicans of “running scared” and using him “as a prop in a closed-door kangaroo court.”
“If they want answers, let’s stop the games & do this the right way: in a public hearing, where the American people can see for themselves what this is really about.”
A day before her husband’s angry words, Hillary Clinton challenged Comer to “stop the games.”
“If you want this fight, @RepJamesComer, let’s have it—in public. You love to talk about transparency. There’s nothing more transparent than a public hearing, cameras on. We will be there.”
Bill and Hillary Clinton will testify before the House Oversight Committee at the end of February. They agreed to do so after Chairman Comer moved forward with proceedings to hold them in criminal contempt of Congress for refusing to testify.
No former president has appeared before Congress since 1983, when President Gerald R. Ford did so to discuss the celebration of the 1987 bicentennial of the enactment of the Constitution.
When Mr. Trump was subpoenaed in 2022 by the select committee investigating the events of 6 January 2021, he sued the panel to try to block it. The panel ultimately withdrew the subpoena.
When in Rome...
Are they going to ask Slick how the 4 ATF officers that were killed in the Waco Raid happened to be his 4 body guards while he was Arkansas Governor?
Karma is a b*tch, ain’t it Bill! All those accusations (without proof) against Trump, yet dozens of pictures of Bill frolicking with Epstein’s associates, and with young girls in swimming pools. Lots of evidence of his many plane trips with Epstein, and visits to pedo island. Filthy animal!
“Congressional “hearings” are out of control, whoever is in charge. Congress is not a law enforcement body, and hearings are required to have a legitimate legislative purpose.”
This is a deposition. It is not a hearing.
His approval ratings never transferred into votes; in both elections, he never broke through 50% of the popular vote.
Slick Willie,
an American original.
"But in a democracy those reasons aren’t good enough."
The Clintons are going to do closed door depositions-not hearings. Depositions are not in public-but the info can be made public after the fact. Given that both Clintons are attorneys, and like most attorneys, love to argue in courtrooms-with as much sensationalism and drama as they can create-remember how Hillary hijacked the Bengazi hearing?
The last damn thing we need is for either of them to be questioned in public hearings, running the clock with dramatic oratory and creating a circus. Stay with the depositions behind closed doors-just the facts, no audience, no drama...
WJC & HRC must think they are still in charge.
To be fair, I’ve never seen an attack on them, ever feed a hungry child . . .
Yep, the draft dodger is nervous
> Except, we aren’t a “Democracy”. <
I understand what you’re saying. But the meaning of words can evolve over time. As an example, in the Roman Republic a “dictator” was an honorable title. Now, the word implies something quite different.
Same goes with the word “democracy”. Its meaning has evolved over time.
“Ghislaine was at Chelsea’s wedding. This well after Epstein’s first prosecution. was at Chelsea’s wedding. This well after Epstein’s first prosecution.”
Rumor has it, that Epstein passed on Chelsea when she was 13 . . . and 14, 15, 16 . . .
Really?
Why would you say that?
IThey are/were great people. Ross Perot was a good man. He awakened a big portion of this country.
As an aside, my former company did a shit ton of work for EDS and I have worked at Perot’s personal home in Dallas and his place on Texoma.
Maybe I’m just biased.
"But the meaning of words can evolve over time."
Yep.
Aw, come’on, ya old bent one. Wave that crookedy finger at the American people fer old times sake and all. And go ahead and trade Hilary for the pig. It is a win-win in your trailer park.
