Good morning everyone, I'm here in the office and some people are concerned about something I said yesterday, so I want to be crystal clear. I am a proud supporter of the second amendment. I have guns myself, long guns, handguns, and I'm a proud high-heeled gun owner. In fact, I even keynoted an NRA convention.
However, you need to be responsible, and every responsible gun owner that I know makes sure that they understand the laws where they are going and understand whatever registration requirements there might be.
President Trump's goal here, and my goal as well, is to make sure we take guns out of the hands of criminals. There is a reason we have the lowest homicide rate in recorded history. We're taking guns off the street, illegal guns in the hands of criminals, who want to use those guns to victimize law abiding citizens.
There's a big difference here -- you're responsible, you follow the laws, you're not going to have a problem with me.

I could reply to this but I already spent too much time this morning on another related thread. I would just direct everyone’s attention to the comments on this X post. I counted exactly zero that were supportive.
And the United States Constitution trumps them all.
Under the supremacy clause all federal laws which “shall be made in Pursuance” of the Constitution is the supreme law of the land.
And federal laws which are not made in pursuance of the Constitution are worthless.
I hope Ms. Pirro has read the Constitution recently.

“Read the Second Amendment”
You can also imagine what’s going through the mind of a police officer who thinks someone he’s approaching might have a gun. The officer needs to decide quickly if needs to shoot the person.
The Second Amendment isn’t applicable to that person if they even appear to be about to use a gun.
Article I §8: "Congress shall have the power..To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of Government of the United States...
Well, I read the US Constitution. That's pretty clear, I would say, and it does not mention anything about any "unique governnce structure". "All cases whatsoever" had a special meaning to almost everyone who was at the 1787 Convention, since the British Parliament had used it to invalidate the acts of legislatures in the 13 colonies s part of what patriots called the "Intolerable Acts".
I think congress should take back control of DC as it was before “home rule”. Some portions could be returned to Maryland.
But we would need a decent congress. There appears to be a glimmer of hope for this if Trump persists.
You know, she is actually warning people to be careful about bringing guns to somewhere where they might be prosecuted.
At first it read like she was in favor of gun laws, but in retrospect, she doesn’t say that. She’s just telling people to be careful to not violate the laws where they are going that could cause them trouble. Even if those laws are unconstitutional.
And we all know why Washington DC has some of the strictest gun laws.
I remember a statistical study after the 1994 election: almost one third of actual voters that November were gun owners who voted Republican. Gun owners can win any election - IF we don’t get upset about somebody saying something we don’t like, and sit on our butts on election day (or worse, vote D@mocrat)...
Yeah, I realized that later. I posted that in post 27.
I’m not thinking clearly. NASTY cold has gotten me.
She is enforcing the law in DC. What the h3ll do you want her to do? You are nuts.
I agree, metmom. The tone of her comment was disturbing at first as it may have sounded like a democrat or anti-gunner. But I’ve seen many times where people are arrested while traveling with a gun, especially New York City or DC, so the warning is well advised.
She’s doing a great job with prosecutions in DC, so I will believe her statement in support of the second amendment foreseeing the day, and hoping it is soon, when she can and will enforce that right to self defense (God given).
But we do need massive progress on restoring full gun rights, and have for a very long time, so I understand those with less patience than I currently have.
Well I can’t on my S&W MP Shield.
We need a requirement in every State for ID to vote, and the voting rolls wiped clean before reregistering. IT IS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS.
“”I’m not thinking clearly. NASTY cold has gotten me.”””
Tell me about it. I got it last week and now the wife and son are dealing with it. He was supposed to be in Minneapolistan today for chemo but I had to delay it.
Hi Janey, great home page!
Do you mean that you can't carry in your travels due to the draconian gun laws in numerous states and localities?
Yes, and there seems to be some momentum gathering for that. I'd like to see voting machines eliminated too, to avoid the fraud that I believe is happening there.
... and a Law that violates the Constitution is NO law...
Period. Full stop. You’re thread hopping with the same schtick...
Are you sure you’re on the right forum for this anti-2A stance you have?
It blows my mind if the Democrats succeed in confiscating all legal gun owners guns, how will they disarm criminals, gang bangers and illegal aliens? Even if they did, how will they stop the thousands of guns being smuggled across the border?
Maybe follow the “supreme law of the land” and adhere to “shall no be infringed”?
If that is too much to ask, then maybe we need to dissolve this government, kick them ALL out, and start over with an un-edited version of the Constitution...
