I browse various classifieds and see more and more ads for people selling their guitars. And the same guitars seem to languish on the market.
With the evolution of techno music, Eddie Van Halen and Angus Young guitar licks don't seem to be instant crowd pleasers/chick magnets like the old days.
Or, am I just out of touch?
All the cool kids are now playing bassoon.
I've also noticed DJs from previously top tier radio stations years ago have relocated to second tier and third tier stations. They play decent stuff, including new ones.
Not that Im going to be in Nevada any time soon but you should offer us some kind of brief calendar/video for those of us that can come see you.
I know, we arent supposed to advertise here and I suppose “selling music” would count but, occasionally leaving links for those that are asking for one I would think would be OK.
I think one either has "it" or one doesn't.
I can practice for an hour a day for six months and get almost nowhere - my wife picks up a guitar for the first time in several months and it's like riding a bike for her.
You can pump your iron and shine your shoes
And wear your hair just right
You go down out on cruisin’ street
‘Cause you want to score tonight
We all want to strut our stuff
And you really want to show your scars
Forget all about that macho s___
And learn how to play guitar
(Only decent JCM song, I know of)
Some jukeboxes are restricted by licensing companies but most have the ability to download and play anything.
Patrons don't pay money to listen to garbage so you will hear some good music.
“And the same guitars seem to languish on the market.”
At least some of it is just sellers setting too high a price. I see that for all sorts of gear.
“The Strat Plus was a well made guitar. My son has two of them, one of which has been retired after lengthy use. A solid workhorse and you can still find them.”
Totoally agree. 20-25 years ago (wow, that sounds like a hella long time) I was gaga over those models. They were especially well made although I would opine that the pickups aren’t that great-—they’re loud but sterile. I had three of them, sold off two, and in that time, you could buy them in virtually unplayed ocndition because they did not sell well. Ten year old guitar (then) with brand new frets, They still don’t sell for more or much more than a quality USA-made Strat. But they were especially well made with upgraed hardware and the fret finish was a cut above standard Strats. I still have a green one I consider my main playing guitar. I prefer ones made 1993 and later with the smaller LSR nut versus the big original Wilkinson nut.
LOL! Yeah well..........We play in Virginia City frequently and also northern caulifourkneeyu from Bridgeport to Alturas and in between. Lake Tahoe frequently. Currently our singer only has her facebook for the band and the web site is being redone since it is out of date. Keep your eyes open. LOL! I know a lot of folks here don’t like FB. I don’t have one but Mrs rktman does. IF you do:

Our bass player had to bow out due to health reasons but we have someone else now. Gonna miss her bass playing.
Pop music not what it used to be. Yet there are still school band programs. Trumpet, drums, trombones, clarinets, and so forth. Music is still happening. Just not the Beatles, Stones, Who, Monkeys.
There is certainly some truth there. At the same time, there are adult efforts that are counterproductive.
I dont know how things are being done today but I know that at that early age we were only allowed recorders which no one wanted to play and the instructors were crabby old hags teaching to a group and that interaction itself created its own dynamics.
Children need to be taught how to read music in the first place and having an instrument they actually want to play goes a long way toward making the practice possible. If they dont have those things they are more likely to reject it all together.
ENJOY!
LOL
I c what you did there.
Same here Ferris. Iām playing now. Got nothing else to do. Snowed in here in NC. I Do have a bottle of Makers Mark. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.
