Video and photos from the scene obtained by Fox 13 showed large crowds outside the administration building and dozens inside. Mathieu Chabaud, with Students for a Democratic Society UW, told the outlet, “This is a University of Washington administration that has shown time and time again it will not move to action unless it is forced to.”

This new petition specifically asks OIRA to exercise its authority under the PRA to substantially narrow the CFPB’s demographic data collection, arguing that Regulation C exceeds the Bureau’s statutory authority and imposes unjustified privacy and compliance burdens.
Under CFPB’s Regulation C, lenders must ask applicants to disclose their race and sex, and, if they decline, lenders may assign those characteristics based on visual observation and surname analysis. This practice exposes applicants to serious privacy risks, imposes substantial burdens, and facilitates race- and sex-based discrimination.

Both Pretti and Good participated in “ICE watching,” an anti-immigration-enforcement tactic that can involve tracking ICE agents, filming arrests, and alerting other activists of enforcement actions. While participants frame ICE watching as a “community safety” measure, these tactics often place untrained civilians in direct, high-stakes confrontation with armed federal agents.
In Minneapolis, one key organizer of these activities is “Defend the 612.” The group, the membership of which apparently included Renee Good, oversees a massive network of Signal chats dedicated to monitoring and protesting ICE activity. It has become the beating heart of the city’s resistance to federal immigration enforcement. (The group’s name refers to the Minneapolis area code.)
