I understand that, but I care about lives not motives. There is no good reason for government to purposely murder their citizens. We can argue forever, if we wish, about what was going on in Hitler’s or Stalin’s head. It’s irrelevant. Look at what they did.
I once told a Marxist that Mao had murdered about 75 million people. The response, “but that was a small percentage of their population.” Of course, she did not know the percentage. She shifted the focus to cultures as if we knew how many cultures were wiped out. This is mostly irrelevant. Murder a million - bad. Murder 6 million - worse.
In God’s eye, it’s hell whether we speak of the murder of one or one million. By my limited view, numbers matter. Identity, cultures, percentages, purpose - not so much.
Adolph Hitler's National SOCIALIST Third Reich murdered approximately 11.5 million people in death camps. Very famously, ~6 million of those people were Jews. In some people's minds, the remaining ~5.5 million people don't count. Deliberately ignoring those 5.5 million victims of state-sponsored murder is a form of "holocaust denial".

Anybody that pissed Hitler off was killed. He started with political prisoners, then went on to the disabled, and continued on down the line. He killed his own supporters during "The Night of the Long Knives" because he was afraid they were getting too powerful.
Many Catholic priests were murdered, specifically targeted for being Catholic. Dachau was the main camp where they were first sent, then some others like Auschwitz.
