Hey Freepers in the path of stormagedden 2026....how ya doing?
Power outages? Impacts?
Here in north GA it's just a little chilly as we wait for the storm.
I watch Fox 5 because they try to remain realistic.
Yep....kinda thinking the same. I don’t want to say nothing will happen....but hopefully not the catastrophic forecast some have been saying.
That’s weird. I’m in Bell. Right now it’s 24 degrees and dry. We had some heavy rain last night but other than that, they should have named this the Yeti Arctic Express. We aren’t seeing jack.
Yes, we will probably get some ice and our neighborhood always loses power but hopefully not super bad.
Here in southwest Arkansas, we had a little of ice yesterday evening mixed with snow and sleet. It changed over to the snow grains overnight. The snow grains finished up this morning. It is cold and overcast. The high temperature is not going to get above freezing until Monday. The Sunday and Monday lows will be in the low teens. No practical travel until Wednesday or Thursday. So far the power, water, and gas has stayed on.
Lots of shoppers at the grocery store and WalMart Friday morning. Starting Wednesday and Thursday the new folks on the TV where really going that this was the certain end of life as we know. It has been a good run, but this it.
The small birds were out this morning pecking around. They must watch the TV.
Columbia is clear and getting colder.
Not one drop of rain in Lilburn GA yet.
Here’s a fun map to play with while you still have power. ;)
Southerners? Stay indoors at all costs! Northerners? You’re gonna need your BIG coat! ;)

I like to tell people from Texas and Arizona that below zero is not that cold. Because its a dry cold.
Not yet as freezing temps not due to arrive here until Sunday night between 10-11 P.M. time frame currently, but may arrive sooner or later. Receiving rain currently. The rain we are getting right now will be what you will be receiving when you do start getting rain..
Yep....we’re supposed to start the party later on tonight.
I often think of the soldiers in the Battle of the Bulge. Coldest winter in Europe for a long time.
If you watch that Band of Brothers episode, you can feel the cold just watching it.
Texas Panhandle: 7 degrees now. An inch or two of snow on the ground, expecting another half foot of snow over night. Did not get the freezing rain that was forecast. This feels like North east ohio, where I came from.
We're gonna get some...just don't know the amount yet.
Woke up to 3-4 inches of snow in Hot Springs, AR. Currently 15 degrees with a high of 21 tomorrow.
Here in DC, we’ve not had a good snowfall in quite awhile. We’re overdue for one. The clickbait news has spent days playing up the apocalypse, but as it gets closer the start keeps getting delayed and the expected totals are steadily reduced.
It’s sort of like push polls before an election, where the pollsters have to rope it in at the end to preserve credibility.
We’re now down to 5-8 inches. With any luck it will get hung up on the beltway and miss us.
People who live in such places should have super-insulating aerogel “hot rooms”.

Even if it is -20F or -30F outside, just with body heat alone, a small hot room should be like a sauna. A cot with a sleeping bag.
I have only used the snow shovel once this winter in NW Montana…freaky!…
Here in NW Jersey we are expecting 12 - 16 inches of snow and frigid temps. Right now it’s about 13 degrees, and for the next 4 or 5 nights around zero. I’m burning a lot of firewood, much more than previous years. This has been a really cold one so far. -10 last Thursday morning. But we are prepared, ready for the worst. Take care all of you Freepers!
