Nobody seems to have begun a thread for the snowstorm that is forecast for this weekend, so I thought I would.
Where I live (DC Metro area) a big snowstorm is relatively rare. We're the ones who don't really know how to drive in it because we don't get a lot of practice; and we also crowd the grocery store and wipe out the shelves - often for stuff we don't really need, and for a forecast that doesn't amount to much but flurries.
But once in a while, we really get whacked; and I think this may be one of those times. (My husband grew up in the wilds of Pennsylvania, and laughs at what we consider 'getting whacked' down here.)
I'm hoping we get lots of snow, and little or no ice; and hope everyone will be safe.
Let us know what you are doing to prepare, if you live where it might hit.
Milk sandwichs 🥪
I kick myself for not taking that pic on the first day of panic food buying in Covid. Was in good shape, went to Kroger for a few pick up items late in the game, probably mid afternoon. Did pretty well on what I needed. But the store was stripped, no produce, no meat, no bread, no dairy. Except this one coffin freezer almost totally full of Beyond Meat and similar. Even in panic buying, no one wanted that crap. It was pretty hilarious, again, I wish I’d snapped a pic.
Say, who do you think you are, Kamala harris?
LOL.
Another important way to get some grain in one's diet, yes.
Hmm, I still have some packets of baker's yeast left over from the COVID-19 Shopping Experience, as well as the usual ingredients. I should find my uncle's beer bread recipe.
In my house, it’’s Cinnamon Toast, and tea. That’s what my Grandma always made us.
(We had sweet tea all summer; but I can’t really remember drinking hot tea as a kid unless it was on snow days.)
😆👍

You know, I have freeped for 18 years and I have never learned how to ping a moderator.
Slacker. I’m not seeing the ammunition. 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂
In this weather mom would set the white beans to soak overnight and pull the hambone out of the freezer. The end result was a great bean and ham soup the next day.

Good luck!
Just write a bunch of swear words. Here, I’ll show you, next message.
I’m not even sure I did it right, as I’ve never done it before...
That sounds good.
And remember. Man made global warming predicted this.
LOL. Taking care of the neighborhood, huh?
I live on east coast and we’re used to pretty large storms, (1-3 feet or so), but placex like buffalo ny, around the great lakes, really get zonked with snow. Saw photos of their ealkways shovelled out, snow was over 12 feet high or so.
Places in wyoming, even some spots in california really get whacked by snow too. (Im sure there are lots of snow slammed spots)
Saw video a few years ago of california town that was under so much snow it was over the roofs of houses in spots. People were making runs to the store on snow shoes to help the elderly stuck in their homes.
Most snow ive seen in one storm on east coast was almost 4 feet, and that was the day we moved! Jad to shovel out BOTH homes just to gwt our bel9ngings moved. It wax a very tiring day lol.
But it was still better than the ice storm that left us without electricity for 3 weeks in moddle,of freezing cold winter. That wqs pretty bad. Thankfully we had a wood furnace. Wsshed my hair in a creek near the house... BIG mistake... instant headache. I dont know, how polar plungers do it lol
Perfect for soup and sandwiches after digging out the driveway.
