A TikTok video recently caused a stir on social media. Posted by user @filimonovadrian, it presents a surprising social experiment that questions our perception of others. The premise is simple: to observe whether a small change can cause a noticeable difference in the attitudes of passersby (especially men).
In this experiment, a young woman is filmed with a hidden camera while walking with cardboard boxes. She deliberately drops them to simulate a situation where she might need help. The video is in two parts:
In the first part, the woman is wearing jogging pants, a simple and comfortable outfit often considered "casual" or "unprepared" according to certain social norms. The images show that, in this version, male passersby ignore her much more often; no one seems to notice that she needs assistance.
In the second part, the same woman is dressed in a short skirt. Same situation, same gestures: this time, the men's reaction changes radically, many stop to help her spontaneously.
The contrast is striking and immediate: this simple change of clothing seems enough to influence the attention and attitude of the men around her. This highlights that many men intervene based on their own perceptions: when she's wearing jogging pants, few help her, whereas when she wears a dress or skirt, short......
Reactions are multiplying under the video. Some people express dismay: "It seems like clothing matters," "It's sad to see that appearance counts so much," while others recall the fundamental principles of solidarity and kindness: "Regardless of appearance, helping someone in need should be automatic."

A very sensible set of rules.
Before 9/11 I had to travel a lot and I always wore a sport coat and tie. Even on the days I had to wear my uniform I would wear my Service Dress instead of the Class B attire.
I got quite a few first class upgrades.
Once I had to drag along a couple of others and they insisted on wearing jeans. One, a lower ranking smart ass, tried to subtly denigrate me for dressing up for a long trip to Germany from DC but he wasn't so smug after I got to spend 10 hours in First Class while he stayed in Coach.
Damm!
Not Guilty!
Hmmmm...Was that to make you available to the high-paying guys in first class, or to protect you from the proles back in coach? (Just kiddin', MM)
If someone appears to need help and I am in a position to do so, I’ll offer it. Male, female, old, young, ugly, cute, doesn’t matter.
Theres a lot more to this conversation that isnt being recognized.
Clothes do matter but not necessarily always in the way everyone is assuming.
For example, in certain parts of the mid-west, especially Wisconsin and into Michigan/Minnesota, curtesy to strangers is at a level that it has become ridiculous. I dont know if some people do it to the degree they do just to feel good about themselves or so they can make a public spectacle of earning a social point. Maybe its like counting coup but with less head injuries.
People hold the door for each other. Its a huge deal. You better not let the door close in front of me if Im behind you because thats a giant snub. This is why people hold it so long but when is it too long? Youll see people opening the door into the gas station to pay when they see someone finish pumping. The person already at the door will stand there with the door open even though the next person is nowhere near the door. Women, men, kids and their little dog Toto, it doesnt make a difference.
Everyone. Everyone does it for absolutely everyone, well, except chicks that look like they might not know they are women. Its not because they are ugly or because they are mentally unstable or because their fashion sense is repulsive. Its because feminists have a tendency to go berserk when you hold the door for them.
This problem with feminists is something that men all over the US has encountered. Holding the door or any other common curtesy can get you accused of rape or something. A woman that looks like a woman understands that there are chivalric social rules and isnt going to have a problem accepting the gesture.
It just isnt worth the anger and hysteria that comes flowing out of an unstable feminist if you try to be nice and they tend to be frumpy color haired women in prison slippers. You may judge one wrong but its just something women are going to have to deal with until society gets these undiagnosed mental patients under control.
Just to get a better seat. But I did meet a tennis pro on a flight to Hawaii. Turned him down for a date.
That was my thought - it looks fake so I would be wary of a scam in progress, regardless of how she is dressed. In fact, the short dress looks like an obvious lure and I would be less likely to help. A stupid experiment - any man with testosterone still flowing would have noticed the shapely legs which would draw attention to the girl. She's effectively invisible in the slug suit.
Ummmmm...no thanks. 🤮
