On Friday’s broadcast of CNN International’s “The Brief,” CNN Senior Correspondent Josh Campbell discussed the video of the shooting in Minneapolis and said that while officers are trained not to step in front of vehicles, “it appears, from other vantage points, that he was likely struck by that car, and so, under policy, an agent can articulate, I felt my life was in danger, I opened fire. But there are big questions based on the angle where he was, were there other options, could he have jumped out of the way? That’s a big question.”
Campbell said, “[H]e puts himself in front of that vehicle, and I’ll tell you, law enforcement officers are trained, essentially, not to put yourself in that situation. That’s training that happens from coast to coast in this country. But the moment that she then turns the wheel and begins to drive forward, it appears, from other vantage points, that he was likely struck by that car, and so, under policy, an agent can articulate, I felt my life was in danger, I opened fire. But there are big questions based on the angle where he was, were there other options, could he have jumped out of the way? That’s a big question.”

I read somewhere that she and her partner had been doing this stuff for several days. They knew what her game was. She escalated, which is common with repeat offenders.
ICE was probably looking for a specific person or specific people. It would be interesting to know the rap sheets of those that were being sought. I’m guessing they harmed quite a few women since they got here illegally.

Yet no one has ever asked what if the driver just turned the steering wheel and continued towards him.

Sure. And another “question is” if she was so frightened why not just follow orders? Why continue to antagonize?
No. He was standing to the right of the car when it was stationary. The driver backed up with her wheels turned to the left, reorienting the vehicle toward him. Then she straightened her wheels, shifted to drive, and goosed it - spinning her tires on the ice in the process.
The video from his phone shows her looking straight at him when she mashed the gas pedal.
The narrative & headline was WELFARE FRAUD, POLITICAL CORRUPTION.
It is now WOMAN 37 SHOT. The headline shifted from pro-MAGA to pro-LOONIES. It does not matter whether the shooting was justified or not. The headline, the narrative is what matters in this war MAGA is in.
Come Nov 2026 we need the hearts & minds of the voters.
In all US police training the goal is to only use lethal force if there is no other option. The ICE agents in front of the car could have stepped out of the way. Then there would be no story. The protestors lose when they lose the narrative.
(If this were hollywood they could have shot out the tires.)
