I hear ya...I held my grandkids within a few hours of their birth. Now one is 25, one will be 16 in 5 days and one just turned 14. For the two in texas, when I first held them, I told them three things:
1. God loves you very much. All you have to do is love Him back, with your whole mind, heart and soul.
2. Sometimes things can get a little complicated: Remember: Lefty loosey, righty tighty - keep it simple.
3. I then read baseball’s infield fly rule to them...reminding them that if they can understand this, they will be able to understand anything.
The interesting thing is, both kids are knee deep in having Christ lead them.
I couldn’t be prouder...wish we lived closer...(sigh)
Re Believing grands:
Beautiful story. You did it right.
Sometimes things can get a little complicated: Remember: Lefty loosey, righty tighty

I don’t know where I first heard that, but it’s helped me through at least 25 confusing moments in home repair. It’s so fundamental that it should be on a tablet on a mountain somewhere.
You’re giving your grandchildren great advice. I have been blessed that they all lived near for a time. Now 5 of them still do, but one has gone to Hawaii and the other is out in Utah. 25-4. We think about how fast our children grow up but the grandchildren growing up seems exponentially faster :-(
