Time for the eastern counties of New Mexico to rejoin Texas. Upon admission to the Union, Texas ceded the lands west and north of the current state boundaries to the Federal government. A possibility would be for Texas to swap El Paso County, which is closer culturally to New Mexico for Lea, Chaves, and other Eastern New Mexico counties, all basically extensions of West Texas.

Yes, everyone down here goes to Lubbock or Midland/Odessa for health care and shopping. Ninety minute to two-hour drive compared to four to five hours to ABQ/Santa Fe.
