Recently freerepublic stopped loading correctly on my Samsung phone. The spacing between lines are off and the font is too small and can't be adjusted to fit the page correctly. I've tried all the options on the phone, and returned to my carrier to fix it. They claim it has to be a website problem. Is anyone else having this problem, or know how to correct it?
Yes, same problem here for the past several weeks. Very annoying.
Where would you find reading mode?
“Have you tried rebooting your phone ... turn it off and back on?”
.
3-5 times a day...
just double tap it and it expands it.
Smartphones themselves have degraded the Internet. Yet a good Ai is better than any search engine for many searches.
You're a brave soul. Upp , oop. I mean, you came to the right place.
How many times have you hit F4?
DOS 3.0 is fine.

This is what's not happening on my new Samsung phone running the Brave browser. I think this is the same issue that is the focus of this thread. I looked for a setting to resolve the issue but haven't found one.
Probably have to use a different browser for FR.
!doctype html
html lang="en"
head
meta charset="utf8"
title>Free Republic Home Page</title
They should have the following:
!DOCTYPE html
html lang="en"
head
meta charset="UTF-8"
meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"
title>Basic Webpage</title
This keeps text the size you want in cell phone screens.
Without it the text will be very small.
Viewport Meta Tag:
The meta viewport tag, placed within the <head> of an HTML document, is crucial for instructing the browser on how to scale and render the page on mobile devices. A common and recommended configuration is:
Code
meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0"
width=device-width:
Sets the width of the viewport to the width of the device's screen in device-independent pixels.
initial-scale=1.0:
Establishes the initial zoom level when the page is first loaded, preventing unwanted zooming or shrinking.
“Are you logged in?
Do you mean “do you have an account?
Do you, to view posts?
Yeah, just about need a microscope to read FR now. Samsung android using Brave. I tried all the settings with no improvement. Annoying, but just living with it.
Can confirm the Opera browser does not have this problem.
The opera browser does not have this issue.
Chrome browser hit the three dots scroll down to show to reading mode
I’ve got the tiny print.. I assumed it was me. Annoying
Same here. Samsung Galaxy S 25, Edge Browser. Started about three days ago.
I had been using Chrome on my Samsung S10 but then the text became too tiny.
I switched to Firefox and it is normal size. I figure Firefox notices the missing meta name just like when a webpage title has a space and the web browser inserts a non breaking symbol in so it loads.
Looks like I have to download the reading mode app.
It stopped working on my bag phone.
