Ford Motor Company logged far more recalls in 2025 than any other automaker, according to federal safety data, eclipsing a decade-old industry record and underscoring ongoing quality issues affecting millions of vehicles across multiple model lines.
According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Ford logged 152 recalls in 2025. The manufacturer with the second-most recalls was Honda, with 53, followed by Forest River with 32, General Motors with 27 and International Motors with 26.
Last week, Ford filed a recall with the NHTSA over a software error that may cause a loss of drive power in certain 2020 Escape Hybrid and 2022 to 2024 Maverick Hybrid vehicles, though only 87 units were potentially affected.
Four other recalls were issued by the automaker the same day, including one involving an instrument panel cover that could detach in an estimated 6,897 2025–26 Maverick pickups. Another recall addressed headlights that may fail in 2025 to 2026 Mustang Mach-E vehicles, affecting more than 45,000 units.

Planned obsolescence.
I watched a video from England about washers and dryers and the repair guy who made the video said this brand had a counter for the number of cycles and when it got to a certain number then the washer or dryer would fail.
Inkjet prints same thing for number of prints etc
Cars and trucks are no different.
It’s a even more fun in a mix
Funny you mentioned washers.
Ours recently died at exactly 5 years and 3 months because of a circuit board failure.
So if I would have bought the 5 year extended warranty I wouldn’t have been able to get it repaired.
In doing research on local appliance repair I came across a company that had 5 stars on yelp and google so I reached out to him with my issue.
He said A replacement circuit board would have been at least $350 and for another couple hundred bucks I could have bought a brand new washer.
He suggested buying a Speed Queen. Although costing three times as much as what I paid for the one that crapped out the Speed Queen brand is made in America and is well known for lasting 20+ years......and NO electronics to fail either
A miniscule part of the market and zero competition for the Asian manufacturers.
Failed On Race Day. To be honest though, they really did build build quite a few really worthy vehicles. I worked in a Ford shop, but have never owned a Ford product, altho there were some really interesting ones. Two of my favorites would be the ‘54 & ‘55 Mercurys.
