Ford Motor Company logged far more recalls in 2025 than any other automaker, according to federal safety data, eclipsing a decade-old industry record and underscoring ongoing quality issues affecting millions of vehicles across multiple model lines.
According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Ford logged 152 recalls in 2025. The manufacturer with the second-most recalls was Honda, with 53, followed by Forest River with 32, General Motors with 27 and International Motors with 26.
Last week, Ford filed a recall with the NHTSA over a software error that may cause a loss of drive power in certain 2020 Escape Hybrid and 2022 to 2024 Maverick Hybrid vehicles, though only 87 units were potentially affected.
Four other recalls were issued by the automaker the same day, including one involving an instrument panel cover that could detach in an estimated 6,897 2025โ26 Maverick pickups. Another recall addressed headlights that may fail in 2025 to 2026 Mustang Mach-E vehicles, affecting more than 45,000 units.

A lot of the other offerings, not so much.
They likely had the B and C teams designing and building the B and C vehicles.
“...move your talented staff from the car and truck divisions to the battery powered joke division.”
Exactly right. Almost $20 billion in write-offs for EV’s. They listened to Xiden and apparently forgot you can’t see the forest for the trees...
software error
All the more reason to get rid of it HAL miffed.
Thet need to name new cars If’s if it works today your okay.
> Those pennies per car saved in manufacturing are costing big bucks. <
A friend of mine had a Buick with chronic transmission problems. A mechanic told him what the problem was. A small transmission part used to be made of steel. But then it was made of aluminum. And the aluminum failed.
This is what happens when engineers are not at the top of the design pyramid.
I think they have their A teams designing them.
But the question is for whom.
If profit per repair is bringing in the bulk of the money for dealers these days, then cars aren’t being designed for the consumer, are they...
See my reply #25.
I think Big Auto knows very well what it’s doing.
And for whom.
When I was getting gas a few days ago, a guy pulled up to the next pump in a beautiful 1935 Ford pickup. It was black and completely stock, no custom stuff at all. He mentioned that his daily driver was a 1937 Ford pickup, but he took the ‘35 out from time to time.
I’d love to have a classic car, but they keep drawing the wrong numbers in Powerball.
The auto industry is a perfect example of just because you have the technology doesn’t mean you necessarily should use it.
Or as I like to say.....it’s just more crap that will fail and cost me money.
And many people, myself included believe auto manufacturers make their vehicles more complex just so you CAN’T work on them yourself.
โThese computerized actuators and sensors are doing nothing for the car buying public.โ
My wife called me and the headlight wouldnโt go off in her escape. I googled the problem. It could have been a faulty switch in any one of the five doors. It could have been a stuck relay. It could have been a bad DRL sensor. It could have been the Body Control Module or a faulty multifunction switch. If it was the body control module, a thing which can figure in in almost any malfunction of a control itโs five hundred dollars and a trip to the dealer to acclimate the computer to the new module. Unbelievable.
Build Ford rough.
We don’t have a garage.
Something my hubby is very great full for. ;-)
First on Race Day ?
We have a garage but no room in it for cars...
That’s an American problem apparently.
And while materialism may have a lot to do with that, I think there’s a car related aspect, too.
We no longer love our cars, do our own work on our cars.
When I was a kid, we had a two car garage.
And the garage was used by the family gearheads to work on the cars we parked in the garage.
Those were the days.
Way back when the TRD line came out, the first thing to come to my mind was Turd
**May TRD forever live in infamy.**
Ha! Yeah, a guy I know bought a new Tacoma years back. He told the dealer that when he came to get it he wanted those decals gone.
It's what happens when the accountants take over engineering. The good engineers find other jobs.
Fix Or Repair Daily
I understand what it stands for.
But to put that on higher end American vehicles is...
I just bust a gut whenever I see one.
Especially when I think of what the owner paid to acquire that acronym.
If they can’t get you to pay as much in parts and repairs as the original price of the vehicle by the time it’s paid off, they failed. Recalls increase the cost of running the company and are a reason for increase in future vehicle prices, a decrease in salaries of all non-union white-collar employees and the closing of factories that manufacture too many mistakes.
