They need the EBT so they can spend any cash they come by on tattoos, manicures, hairstyling and pot.
The renter I had used her EBT on buying boneless, skinless organic chicken for over 5 bucks a pound. Shrimp for more than 12 bucks a pound. Chips for 4 bucks a bag. Organic veggies, almost always the pre peeled and sliced ones, which are overpriced. Steak which I haven’t been able to afford in over a decade. Boar’s Head smoked lunchmeat which is over 9 bucks a pound- never baloney. Fully prepared foods, etc. She did eat a lot of the single serve Mac n cheese but has never made a peanut butter sandwich, cooked beans or lentils made scratch biscuits and gravy, cornbread, sautéed cabbage, or made soup in her life.
Oh good. Another thread of white people dreaming of black women getting $500 worth of steak and lobster with their food stamps and getting into their brand-new Escalade
Lol….there are endless stories about EBT fraud. Lets not pretend it is not happening.

When my mother was on assistance for a short time after her divorce there were food stamps but we also had to go to the welfare office to get cheese and peanut butter and other staples off the truck. Food stamp purchases were limited, as I recall. Also, there was some shame in having to use food stamps. No one wanted to be on food stamps.

Well..... They aren’t “DOPE” stamps, “FINGERNAIL” stamps, “CORNROW” stamps or “BOOZE” stamps.
They’re called “FOOD” stamps becuse they are intended to provide food.
That concept might be a little too complicated for her to grasp.
Anyway - by the looks of her she probably has a butt bigger than the Beatles so could do with less junk food and more “Real” food.
Half the people under 40 here are on EBT/WIC/SNAP but they don’t sell steak or lobster at the Holler General.
Time to institute “sink or swim” policies...if they complain about not being able to buy junk food - and carry the extra weight she does, they don’t need taxpayer dollars...
Im old enough to remember when folks here in Mass. could buy lottery tickets and liquor with EBT cards….. gool ol days. Just dont take away cheetos and pepsi….
I had a job once where I had to deal with SNAPPERS. All they bought with them were tattoos.

You can actually buy anything you want by selling the benefit or buying the steaks and selling them. As best I can tell, they are a conduit for sodas, frozen pizza and bust-opens. There are only 2 clerks at the General. One is the cashier and the other keeps the endcap frig stocked with Mountain Dew and Dr Pepper.
EBT is a scam. Wife’s cousin (who has a terminal case of TDS) is on food stamps. He uses half of the food stamps that he gets on junk foods, the other half he sells it for drugs, beer and cigarettes. (Oh he is homeless!). He told us that Trump caused his homelessness, I told him it wasn’t Trump, it was himself and being too lazy...
At some point you have to realize that ANY subsidy to ANY person or organization will be spent how they see fit.
Funding for Planned Parenthood...”It doesn’t go to performing abortions.” Bull crap. All subsidies do is allow the receiver to shift their spending around. For simplicity lets say PP worked on a $100 budget. $30 went to performing abortions. $50 went to administration. $20 went to other services. The government comes along and gives them $20 to cover the “other services.” Now they have $120. Are they going to spend $40 on other services. Of course not. The new money is the $20 they spend on other services. The $20 they USED to spend on that now gets spent on whatever they want...like abortions.
Same thing with people. Make it so they don’t have to spend their money on food and it just frees up their food money to be spent on something else, like nails, hair, expensive phones, etc. You aren’t feeding them, you are freeing up their money to be spent frivolously.
The solution? A tiered program for a limited period of time with a gradual reduction in benefits.
