Scientists rubbish claims of 'giant structures' underneath Egyptian pyramids

Online claims of "large underground structures" discovered under Egypt's famed pyramids of Giza are unfounded, experts in the field say. The assertions stem from a YouTube video featuring three Italian researchers with no background in Egyptology or archaeology.

The claims spread on social media after three researchers -- Corrado Malanga, Armando Mei and Filippo Biondi -- held a press conference March 22 and 23 on YouTube.

"The pyramids are monumental stone structures, built on a flat plateau," said Jean-Guillaume Olette-Pelletier, doctor of Egyptology at the University of Paris-Sorbonne (archived link). "They were then excavated or converted to include burial and funerary chambers, but there is no evidence of underground networks as deep as those mentioned."

However, the researchers' claims are not based on "any scientifically valid data," Olette-Pelletier said.

Zahi Hawass, an archaeologist and former Egyptian minister of antiquities, also refuted the allegations in a March 26 statement (archived links here and here).

"The rumors suggesting the presence of columns beneath the Pyramid of Khafre are nothing but fabrications propagated by individuals with no expertise in ancient Egyptian civilization or the history of the pyramids," he said.

Hawass added that no researchers have used radar devices inside the pyramid.

"There is no scientific evidence to support these assertions, and no archaeological missions are currently working inside the Pyramid of Khafre."

If you think that’s outlandish... just wait until these YouTuber idiots claim to have spoken with and interviewed the aliens that built all those underground structures. It’s coming.... you know it’s coming.

“No peer-reviewed publications in credible journals support the 2025 claims, and they seem to extrapolate from Biondi’s earlier 2022 paper on internal pyramid structures, which doesn’t mention vast underground shafts.”

None of that makes any difference. If someone is making the claims then let them show what evidence they have and let them do the necessary work on site. Science is about asking questions, shutting down people for asking questions just makes those in the field gate keeping bullshit artists.

Let them try to raise the money and prove it. Either they find what they claimed or they dont.

I mean, its not like they are questioning foundational facts that a whole science is built on like the hoax which is Troy,Egypt being the first civilization, or Clovis first .

Yes, I think that the structures beneath the pyramids were constructed by the Nephilim. Some of them were mighty men, heroes who did good, Odysseus, Achilles, Hercules, Perseus. Others were evil beings who practiced sorcery and feasted on mens’ flesh.

I’m thinking 8,000 ybp because that was the Holocene Optimum. From 18,000 - 8,000 ybp, the sea levels rose 120 meters. That and the supernatural component (water from heaven and from beneath the Earth).
