Remember when it was just the World Cup... And you didn’t need to call it the ‘men’s’ World Cup?
Greatest line ever, “if I wanted to see someone struggle to score for 90 minutes, I’d take my friends to a bar”
This pissing of Soccer is Un- American, and is getting me angry at President Trump. (Somewhat just kidding.)
Pushing Soccer down out throats. Soccer is a Socalist Sport.
Ann Coulter had the ultimate Soccer take d9wn.
Pushing Soccer down out throats. Soccer is a Socalist Sport.
If soccer is such a socialist sport, then every team would get the same amount, regardless of record, like they do in the NFL.
If you get relegated, you lose a lot of money.
I know, I’M NOT HAPPY.
It’s completly un- American. ICE should deport Soccer.
The way it’s played is Socalist.
All you butt-hurt and whines FReepers!
Lighten up Francis!
Soccer is a great sport.
Agree to disagree.
All these soccer is gay people should be dropped into the middle of an Argentina-Uruguay game and asked for their opinions at the end. Of course dead men tell no tales.
I suppose Uruguay-Paraguay sounds gay on a certain level.
But as somebody who played soccer as a younger man, I find it quite funny to read this because in fact, I heard all about it from hockey people and then guess what, a big scandal in kids hockey involving gay coaches and abused kids.
Have a look at Vancouver vs Miami on the weekend for NSL championship and see how gay that is. The part about low scoring is a bit overdone also, I guess there was that one stinker of a final last time the World Cup was in the USA and that left a bad impression but in fact the average score in a top league or international soccer match is 3-2, not 0-0, problem being, near the end of a long tournament, both surviving teams are exhausted, playing two big games a week, they have a number of injuries, and so the final games are sometimes a bit of a letdown.
USA has drawn a very easy group there, I would imagine Turkey will win that four-country playoff; Canada (also hosting) will have Switzerland, Qatar and probably Italy (or Wales) after another playoff. That will be fairly difficult for Canada to advance especially as they have lost a bit of the form they had four years ago.
It’s nort the Orginization, it’s THE SPORT. No scoring , notV Comercials, people running back and forth doing nothing. It is just not American we like scoring, and runs, not floping.
I will treat this like the Olympics. If you wear USA on your shirt/jacket/helmet/shorts/etc. I will cheer for you to win and follow the results even if it’s a sport that isn’t my cup of tea for excitement or entertainment value.
However that rooting interest is dependent on said athletes not being completely odious and insufferable like Megan Rapinoe.

I'll root for USA except when they are wearing those uniforms during the "Pride Month".
I think most soccer fans around the world would say, if you don’t like soccer and don’t think it’s American, then ignore it and don’t bid for the World Cup. There’s no point in holding this most important of all sporting events (aside from the Olympics) in a country that doesn’t want it when there are dozens that do want it and are fully capable of hosting it.
For example, Australia and New Zealand could host it and they have the facilities and the public interest even though both of those countries are better known for another sport (rugby football, or in Australia, golf as well). I don’t think there is huge enthusiasm in Canada for hosting it either. I really don’t get why countries that aren’t soccer nations want to host the World Cup, it would be like Iran and Afghanistan hosting the Miss World pageant.
I hope the American fans are better behaved than those hooligans at the Ryder Cup as well, that was a complete disgrace.
