‘ShamWow!’ Guy Launches Congressional Run

The infomercial pitchman behind “ShamWow!” is officially running for Congress. Filings released Friday show that 61-year-old Vince Offer, who also goes by Offer Vince Shlomi, has registered to run in the Republican.

Prolific pitch man Billy Mays died in 2009. His affinity for cocaine was credited as a contributory cause of Mays’ death at age 50.

Wow, I didn't realize Billy Mays - with that big friendly smile - was into coke. Not good for the heart.

Thanks for that info. I just can't picture the ShamWow guy as a Republican living in Texas, of all places. LOL

Not long after that ShamWow ad first hit the TV screen I was at a YUUUUGE nautical flea market in Dania Beach and it seemed like every other vendor was either selling ShamWow or a ShamWow knockoff. Very popular among boat owners. Every few months we get a new batch bright orange ShamWow type pads for our kitchen.

Yep, there was an incident at the Tampa Airport involving Mays and cocaine. As large as he was, there had to be something promoting his ultra-high energy level. It wasn’t caffeine. Now you know the rest of the story.

That’s really sad. He seemed like a nice guy. Why people rely on drugs like cocaine, etc., I’ll never understand.
