Stop Overpaying For Internet: SpaceX Starlink vs Amazon Leo
YouTube ^ | 11/21/2025 | JCristina

SpaceX Starlink finally has real competition 🚀 and your internet bill may never look the same. Amazon’s new LEO network is directly challenging SpaceX, and in this video I break down what actually matters: speed, reliability, coverage, latency, and how this fight could put real money back in your pocket. You’ll see how Starlink’s upgraded low-orbit system stacks up against Amazon Leo’s fresh constellation, what this means for rural users and families, when prices could drop, and why major ISPs are quietly panicking. If you want to know how the future of satellite internet affects your wallet, performance, and options, this is the breakdown you've been looking for.

I just ordered one. They have a new offer here that includes a free dish and installation. You have to “rent” it for one year at normal plane price of $80 for Residential Lite or $120 for Residential. If you cancel before one year you send the equipment back, no harm no foul. If you keep it you pay $325.

Can’t pass it up.

I’m north of Tampa.

Never a problem.

Grok:

For Starlink Residential service in Dallas, Texas (as of November 2025):
Starlink pricing is location-specific and can vary even within the same city based on network capacity and demand. Dallas is a major metropolitan area with good availability and many traditional internet options (fiber, cable, etc.), so it's typically in the “standard” pricing tier rather than discounted “excess capacity” regions.
Hardware (Starlink Kit, including the satellite dish, router, and accessories): Usually $349 one-time cost (recent sources confirm this as the common price for the Standard actuated dish in most US areas; it has occasionally dropped to $279–$299 during promotions).
Monthly service fee (Residential plan): $120/month for unlimited high-speed data (typically 100–400+ Mbps download, depending on conditions; deprioritized during peak congestion if the network is busy).
Other potential fees:
Shipping/handling: $50–$100 (sometimes waived).
No installation fee if self-installed (most people do this).
Texas sales tax applies to hardware and possibly the first month's service.
Lower-cost options that may be available in parts of the Dallas area (check your exact address on starlink.com):
Residential Lite ($80/month, speeds capped ~50–250 Mbps, lower priority) — available in many parts of Texas.
Residential 100 Mbps tier ($40/month, capped at 100 Mbps) + free or very low-cost hardware in some promotional/excess-capacity spots.
12-month commitment plans that sometimes make the dish free (you pay a $349 fee if you cancel early).

I pay Xfinity $120 a month plus modem rental. Half is covered by wife’s company.

I get 1500 to 2000 mbps.

The 100MbPS is too slow to view videos online. It will be constant buffer. I am usually running 5 different things on the net at the same time. It would grind to a halt. And, that isn't even including torrenting.

If this is your experience, you've got other problems somewhere.

My wife and I live in an RV park and use the park's WiFi. Depending on the time of day, Speedtest.net shows we have between 10 and 20 Mbps, with around 6 - 10 Mbps up, using Xfinity fiber.

We use YouTubeTV for our TV, and I can't remember the last time we saw any buffering. Though we normally just do HD, when I've checked 4K, it doesn't buffer either.

In addition to using YTV, we also have a desktop computer, two tablets, 4 Kindles, 3 Alexas, and about 15 items running through WiFi smartswitches.

No problems. It just works.

Mint used to wholesale bandwidth from T-Mobile but was taken over by T-Mobile. They're offering 5G data (hotspot I think, called "Home MINTernet") for current phone customers, $30 / mo. If I thought it had an RJ45, I'd actually consider it for upstairs.

We'll probably see more of this kind of thing. I saw my first ATT ad on something I was streaming, just yesterday, first such ad I recall seeing in years.

I had to get t-mobile after i lost my starlink access. No other options. It’s okay but we do a lot of streaming and I have a ton of cameras and other devices I like to access remotely and it can’t come close to keeping up.

I’d be thinking, how does starlink see thru vpn? Is there a backdoor in your local starlink code. In router part?
